So there was that one time I broke my ankle and now there's this time I stood on a rusty nail, ahhh, same foot, silly Fee!
I'd spent the weekend camping with my family, just before I left I couldn't find one of our chickens and was worried about her all weekend - when I got home, I went to feed them and saw they were all inside the pen, I got super excited and started to run over to say hello and then, BAM, nail in the foot. I didn't know it was a nail at the time, I just felt incredibly sorry for myself as blood was going everywhere and I was all by myself. The next day I went to investigate what I had stood on and found an old wood plank with six bent and rusty nails sticking out; hiding under some black plastic. Super gruesome!
Fast forward to a day later and after Ben pestering me to go see a doctor I did. I thought I was fine because I'd seen the time Ben jumped down onto an exposed tree root and how he came down with a fever and ended up in hospital with a serious spreading infection. No fever or red veins but I'm a good girlfriend and saw the doctor for Ben :) Turns out I'm glad I did because apparently I had a bit of my thong in my foot, (I was wearing thongs when the nail went through).
I like telling people that the B12 needle you get (if you're really deficient) is the most painful needle ever but I stand corrected, the local anesthetic that the doctor jammed into my wound was really the worst needle I've ever had. The doctor told me not to squirm too much and that I would hate him and it would last a little while. All very true observations! He then cleaned out the wound, found some of my thong and told me it was a good thing I came in. So kids, see a doctor! I'm a shocker for not seeing doctors, I like to let my body try and heal on its own but I also like having a foot :)
