This week's art challenge was to draw a kookaburra. Ben had been commissioned to do a cd cover which funnily enough required a kookaburra design - wise theme selection on Ben's behalf there. To give him credit Ben actually works super long hours 7 days a week for six weeks at a time, so I applaud the few hours he has a night to get art done in (and ring me!)
Ben's Version |
I think Ben owned this challenge, I actually thought it would be super easy for me but maybe I over thought it! I actually contemplating starting the whole piece over but I kind of lost interest :p
My Version |
Onto next weeks challenge I say!
Actually I think we may have hit a slow pace - I haven't even picked next week's theme yet, any ideas people?
And a shot of our stencils in action (from last week's challenge)
These were taken under our house where there are actually many many stencils - we had fun!
Did you do the first one or the second one? I should try this kind of challenge with my hubby:)
ReplyDeleteAh I did the second one, maybe I should have made that clearer - i'll go pop in a little comment :)
DeleteIt's definitely a fun challenge for us, some friendly competition that gets us both making art!
gah you are both so artistic! and no I really really love your kookaburra- it is so cute and the colours are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteAh thank-you! Maybe I'm too critical, I think I just lost love for it - set my expectations too high!
DeleteI've been waiting for this challenge!!! Wow! But kookaburras look great!
ReplyDeleteThanks Trishie!!
DeleteI love both of the birds :D
ReplyDeleteAww thanks Sara - you guys always write sweet comments :)
Deleteboth kookaburras are great! i love seeing both your takes on these challenges. would you do anything to do with typography? a happy letter L or a mean V. haha. i don't know. i just totally made that up and it sounds nuts.
ReplyDeleteLove the art challenges with Ben because you two have very different styles, and we got to see two awesome approaches :) I think that makes too hard to choose one over the other, so I won't (hahhaha, scaredy cat always). And for future challenges what about dinosaurs? Dani however thinks that historic characters converted into zombies is a much better topic ;)
ReplyDeleteOooh both are awesome ideas, we still haven't picked out topic - oops, I'll put it to Ben I think :) :) So fun - and you can totally pick a winner, no hurt feelings here!
