Self portrait

Thought I'd share a few self portraits! I actually wanted to take a self portrait on film which I did (you can see it here) but I was a bit weary of wasting the film so I did some test shots on my digital camera first and hey I actually liked those test shots so I thought I'd share :)

I wish I could capture my normal expression. You know the whole, resting bitch face thing, I think I have something more like, resting worried face. In high school teaches would always single me out to ask me what was wrong, or what it was I didn't understand from the board, to which I'd probably look even more confused and reply that I was okay. Yup, so resting, worried face :p

In other news, two more days and then we leave for Japan for three weeks, I'm super super excited!! I have one more blog post lined up, it's pretty cute(!!) and then you'll probably have a very long blog silence from me whilst I sort through my Japan photos and get to blogging!!

  1. I have resting worried face, too! It's the worst. Everyone always asks me if I'm okay. So I feel your pain! These photos are adorable, by the way. And how exciting that you get to go to Japan!

    1. oh so good I'm not alone here!! It makes me feel super paranoid about how my face looks and probably creates a real worried look worrying about it :P :P We should start a club!

  2. What a pretty lady!

I know what you mean about resting worried face - I got (and still get) the same questions.

    'Um, I'm actually fine?'
'No, really - how are you?'
    Grrrr.

  3. Cool self-portraits! I struggle with keeping up a normal expression in my self-portraits too. I seem to have this permanent frown on my face...

  7. Cute as ever :)
I so understand the face, though I'm told mine is grumpy lol, constantly being told to cheer up when I was a teenager. I think I was labeled much more angsty than I really was haha! I will remember not to ask if you're ok if you're looking worried hehehe
Also - JAPAN IN 2 DAYS!!!!!! How insanely exciting!! :D :D
Safe travels you guys, have amazing kawaii fun, can't wait to hear all about it :) 💕💕💕💕

  10. I think I have a resting worried face too!! Everybody would always ask if I am okay thinking I am not okay at all when I am totally okay!!

    1. I feel super happy knowing I'm not alone here :) mmm, tips, I think definitely test out your set up with a digital camera first, put something in the position where you'll sit to focus on (I think I used my camera tripod bag) and don't use a super wide aperture (to help make sure you get yourself in focus!)

  11. Such pretty portraits! I love your worried face. People at work always tell me that I have a readable face, so that's pretty annoying sometimes :) Super excited for you, 3 weeks, woopsie! that's a whole lot of pictures (I wish) to share afterwards! Which cameras are you bringing?! I know by now you are already there, so I'll patiently (who I am kidding? hahahha) wait for your answer :) Say a big hi to Japan and tell them we miss it so much, but we will be there soon! <3

    1. readable face! Opps, you're giving everything away!
I ended up bring my 1000f canon film camera (though I only shot 1 and a bit rolls!) I also bought my 35mm holga and shot even less on that one - double fail! I crazily also bought my instax and I think I shot like 5 photos from it (are you seeing a trend here :P). I didn't bring my iphone, which I kind of regret and of course I bought my digital and two lenses. We didn't have many kilos to bring with us on the plane so I decided to go with my 85mm and my 50mm but I ended up really missing something wider - would of loved my 35mm but it's pretty heavy! I really struggle shooting film when I have my digital camera with me. I'm much more confident with digital and it becomes my safety blanket - I need some tips from someone who successfully shoots both!! Any tips??

  12. lol! i think i tend to have a resting worried face too. so many people would single me out and ask "what's wrong?" and since i tend to have a quieter personality when i'm with a bunch of people the "what's wrong?" would be followed by "why are you so quiet?" ugh.

but japan! so so exciting! can't wait for you to share your adventures! have a great time!!
