Northern New South Wales

This is the last birthday post I have to share, a hodge-podge of the towns we went through in Northern New South Wales; lots of street art in Lismore, a poultry show and a few random bits and pieces - enjoy!

Byron Road Trip - Day 2

Camping for me, means early bed time and seemingly far too early awakenings, it didn't help that the camp site had a lot of birds also to musically awaken us. Taking gremlin for a walk on the leash in the morning didn't help the situation either (sorry tent neighbours for those extra bird squawks). Getting up early does have it's perks though like getting to take pictures in pretty light! We headed to the lighthouse and had a fun hour exploring :) Did you know the lighthouse sits on the most easterly block in Australia *nerds out*

The lighthouse area had a very Tasmania vibe to me!

Apart from a large group of women whom Ben was very interested to ease drop on their discussions of yoga- the place was pretty empty so we got our model on :p

Actually one of the lovely yoga ladies offered to take our photo. I must say I freaked out when I realised I had recently changed my focus to back button focusing (sound familiar Dani?) and that I also needed to explain that my lenses don't zoom but she was a champ about it :)

We ended up having breakfast at bay leaf cafe, I can totally recommend their coffee. I joke that I'm a coffee expert because I've had ten coffees in my life and since I don't really like coffee I can tell when it doesn't taste extra bad :p lol

I loved seeing all the cute bikes around Byron :)

After breakfast we headed to whites beach, known for its white sand and crystal waters :)

It was here we learned that gremlin isn't particularly fond of surfers.  Or more importantly surfers in full black wet suits who run towards tiny kittens carrying their surfboard. We decided to cut our beach time short because of this - I think Gremlin appreciated it.

On the way home Ben's car was making a fun sound, so we checked it in at a mechanics and lounge around in the tent until it was ready (no drama just a loose stone caught up in the wheel guard thingy!)

It was a good excuse for a cat nap anyway :) Did I mention an hour into our journey I realised I forgot the air mattress - we actually ended up buying a twin set of pillows for our second night and I can say (that extra hip padding) meant the World of difference to our sleep.

At night we had pre-dinner sushi snacks at kinoko. I had actually planned a huge night of feasting but by dinner number two I was out :p

Dinner number 2 being at miss margaritas - a Mexican joint I'd happily recommend (they also do a mean piña colada!) Despite having had three in my life -the last two within a week of each other the waitress was pretty insistent that there's was the best and I should try it. I'm glad she twisted my arm on that one.  As a fallout to having one too many piña colada's I now cannot stop hearing that particular song everywhere! Have you guys seen Guardians of the Galaxy? I just saw it the other night and it put the song straight back into my brain (great movie btw!) Sorry if the song is now stuck in your head!                        Catch Day 1 here
