Sentosa - Singapore

So after Haji Lane and China Town we added a walk around Sentosa onto our list, I'm not sure if this was wise but I did sleep pretty well on the plane ride home! Those neck pillows, we indulgently brought, didn't hurt either :p 

Sentosa is an island jammed pack full of touristy stuff, here you'll find Universal Studios, Under Water World and a myriad of other ways to spend money. Unfortunately we spent our last Singapore coin on the monorail tickets over to the island, so we were left checking out the freebies Sentosa had to offer. I'd actually still recommend a walk around even if you're lacking the coin! It's flashy and loud but the fun buzz in the air gives it a distinct charm :)

This is taken over on the harbour front side, where there is a huge shopping centre called VivoCity, it's here on one of the levels you'll find the monorail over to the island, though you can walk as well :)

They have a bunch of street performers at Sentosa but Titan the robot was definitely the best we saw :)

I feel it's almost mandatory that when you're in Singapore you take a photo of at least one Merlion statue :p

So that's it folk, we hoped on a plane and traveled back to Australia :) 

I just have a final two more posts to wrap it all up and then I get to share life that happened whilst blogging my trip :P Ben arrived and is leaving me again next Tuesday for another six weeks :( I've been practicing more film and tomorrow I'm going to accomplish one of my dreams which will hopefully start me on a new journey (it's photography related!). To be honest I'm bursting from the seams with excitement!!

China Town - Singapore

So after Haji we took the train to China Town where we got a different perspective to our night time visit.   It also happened to be such a happy and sunny day, so we really scored :) The little drom store is located in China town and I happily spent way too long inside having a lovely chat with one of the owners Antoinette (you may remember me mentioning from the playground series). I also dropped by the lomography store and scored some expired film - it's currently in my camera and I'm super interested to see how it turns out!

It was fun spotting some tiles as well around the area, I actually brought my mum a badge of a tile design that the little drom shop produced but I can't seem to find that tile series on the web to show you, it was awesome though :)

The photo of Ben was actually taken outside of china town but I liked it, so I've decided it fits in here :)

One of my favourite signs in Singapore was the no durians sign featured on Singapore trains. Ben and I assumed it was because the fruit is so spikey and therefore a dangerous weapon :p but we found out, amongst lots other interesting trivia from our guide in Langkawi that the ban is because durians are so smelly! I'm really sad I didn't try one now :( Anyway back to China town!

I loved all the pretty lanterns from the mid autumn festival :)

I really enjoyed china town and I'd recommend dedicating a few hours for a wander, if you're planning your own Singapore itinerary :)

Haji lane - Singapore

Unfortunately there was only one flight from Langkawi back to Singapore and it just so happened to be early in the morning, no more island lounging for us :( 

With our final flight to Australia not happening till 10pm that night we spent our last day roaming around Singapore. I thought it would be wise to tick off haji lane a street that came up quite frequently when researching must-do places in Singapore. We ended up happily killing an hour here munching down on a burger and taking photos of the colourful buildings and street art - it's just one street though, so an hour was definitely suffice for us. I'd say if you're into your fashion and planning a trip to Singapore or you just have a few hours to kill, a stop by haji would make a nice addition to an itinerary :)

Singapore's street art is definitely minimal but because haji is going for a more trendy youthful vibe they seem to openly encourage it! which is nice :)

When we arrived at haji it was just before noon and all the shops were just starting to open, in the meanwhile we did a lot of window shopping which was fine enough for me :)

We ended up grabbing a burger at Bergs, which although was no Baboon House, their burgers were still pretty tasty! For me though, it was their iced tea that really sold me, yum!

Haji Lane, like most places we found in Singapore, was an under 10 minute walk from the train station and was an easy find :)

Little India - The Banana Leaf Apolo

Since it was our last night in Singapore, I'm going to blog the rest of my photos and tell you about our funny last Singaporean dinner!

Our hotel, The Vintage Inn was just a few shops down from a well reviewed Indian restaurant called The Banana Leaf Apolo. After a big day of playgrounds we were excited to feast. We arrived to the restaurant got seated and shown to our iPad ordering menu! Wow fancy :) We ordered up and I made sure to get myself a mango lassi (I've got a slight addiction to them!) turns out it was the best mango lassi I've ever had and I'm sure it was the best curry we'd ever eaten if only we could have eaten it - I'll admit it was downright embarrassing what we left. As hard as we tried and as much as we lessened the intensity of spice with our naans, Ben and I called defeat, it was seriously just too hot! Lol

And what we left..oops. We managed to laugh it off though, silly westerners!

We did see a bit of graffiti in Singapore I believe this would of been a commissioned wall, though I could be wrong.  It was located a few blocks from Little India
