Japanese Vending Machines

I'm definitely drawn to take photos of certain things - this trip, vending machines were on the list. Even though this time I didn't partake in too many drinks it was fun to see the the different settings and machines and renew my love for an iconic Japanese icon :)

Singapore and Malaysia Snacks

This segment is completely and utterly stolen from the completely and utterly wonderful blog, the cat you and us, if you haven't checked it out you so should! Damaris and Dani who run the blog did an awesome video and blog entry on all the Japanese snacks they ate whilst in Japan. I'm actually not sure how they managed to eat as much as they did (an impressive feat!) but it totally inspired me to photograph all the snacks we ate on our trip (not really that many!) lol :)

Drinks were pretty hit and miss but I didn't mind either of these too!

Singapore is nuts for hello kitty, I'm going to say even more nuts than Japan. It feels like in Japan hello kitty is more aimed at younger girls and Singapore includes a slightly older demographic as well.

What I liked about Singapore and wasn't really expecting was that it held similarities to Japan, I kept pointing out random things like construction workers to Ben and saying, it feels like we're in Japan.   Ben and I actually have a theme song that we sing, to make fun of ourselves for being so obsessed with Japan, it keeps us grounded :p

These jagabee chips were pretty yummo made using purple potatoes, they also came in individual packs with a different character in each packet which I liked :)

I dunno, Ben's pick I'm not much of a biscuit fan unless it's a semi uncooked cookie! lol

I've never seen a drink that was quite this pink! *nods in approval*

This was taken in Malaysia only days after hello kitty town and look at those poor pitiful nails!

Japan Day Three (second part)

ah vending machines one of every corner!

So where was I? Um yes, on our way to Ueno.   Ueno was a scary place to visit on a bike, we'd park outside a shop, look in and go out to find our bikes gone! 2 minutes and someone stole it!!! No wait, nobody steals in Japan, they just freak out when you park somewhere you shouldn't park and move your bike into a more appropriate area, ahh! One time though, actually after this awesome toy shop

Yes after that toy shop we came out to find our bikes with a stern notice attached to them! Eek, time to grab some lunch and leave ueno!

Nikkuman! Best bloody things from the combini and under 2 bucks, geez who was the silly person that started the rumour, Japan is expensive, pfft!

Now Ueno to Asakusa (where our hotel is) is only a 20 minute walk which we'd learn to be very familiar with over the next two weeks! But for some reason I stuffed up! If there is one thing I'm proud of it's my amazing sense of direction, but boy oh boy did I stuff up this time

We got lost, very lost and ended up at the Koban aka police box to get some directions, eek, but hey, on our lost adventures we did come across these rad statues!

Graff hunting, can't avoid it when you're dating someone like Ben!
