Op Shop Finds

This is such a fun post for me to put together - all my favourite op shop finds, most are new-ish (last few months) but there are some super old finds I've thrown in because I'm not sure I ever shared them.

My most recent and possibly favourite find was this silver tamagotchi. I was checking out the board games section and notice some familiar looking characters on the spine of a box and huzzah a tamagotchi! I'm kind of scared to start him up because I remember I used to kill my pets due to neglect when I had one in high school.

Anyone else remember teachers being all concerned about tamagotchis and banning them from the classrooms? I guess they were just precursors to mobile phones (or is that too much of a stretch!) ahh kids like distractions :)

Some cute ornaments - I just can't resist! I'm really wanting to build up my collections of cats but its seems to be such a slow process probably because I'm too picky (though I'm sure others would disagree when seeing how much stuff I own - slight hoarder here!).

Measuring spoons, I realised you can just pick these up at a homewear store but I thought it was a good find, brand new, for two dollars. I honestly don't know what I ever did without measuring spoons - well actually I do, a lot of inaccurate measuring went on :p A normal tablespoon is really not a tablespoon measurement!

Continuing on with my lucky camera finds, a flash that I really needed, I love that it has the person name stuck on with a dymo maker - I honestly don't want to take that off :) Tell me why did you got rid of your flash C. Sumner? I'm going to do a little review on it soon too.

Tap shoes! I bought these as I was recovering from my broken ankle and made it a goal that I would learn a few steps as my ankle got better! I still haven't but I will :)

I've picked up a handful of "new" board games over the last year and this was a favourite find of mine. Perfect Match used to be this awesomely cheesy Australian dating show that aired in the 80s. I finally got all my room mates to play the board game the other week and although it isn't ground breaking everyone said they had fun playing :)

The board itself has the best graphics and there's pink love heart tokens!!

I got this mug last time I was visiting Ben's mum. Expo 88 was a huge deal for Brisbane folk, being born in 1984 means I was only four when I visited but I do have vague memories. The mug crazily had never been used but I have since rectified that with many mugs of chai tea (super addicted).

This is one of my super old finds, I picked this up at a Brisbane op shop when my friend Emaya was visiting from Melbourne - we actually got matching ones! I love this watch but I also love my pink watch I got from the little drom shop in Singapore - it's a hard decision which one to wear :p

Just incase you really want to see (or maybe I just really want to show you) a shot of the front of the box :)

And my last find, a flower press, actually it's the exact same flower press that I had as a kid, I still remember that box too! It had it's original price still on $4.99 and I picked it up for $3. I just need to start collecting some flowers so I can put it to work :)

    1. I think I had an orange or yellow tamagotchi from memory but I also have no idea what happened to it. The little pink bear is made in Japan :) I too really love seeing what other people find, makes your blog a definite favourite of mine :)

  3. You found some great little items! I had a Tamagotchi when I was younger, but mine always died too. Those things were so cute but so damn needy!

    1. I know that's why I'm scared to start it - I bought it batteries today so will see, otherwise it might just live happily on my keychain collection :)

  9. Tamagotchi! I must admit I was a horrible parent with them, I either got them killed or I took the batteries out :P hahaha, but it was fun! However my favorite of the pst are the ornaments, ooh they are so so so cute, love retro looking ceramic figurines, you can't never have too many of them (don't worry! hahaha). Btw, what was the game board about? I'm guessing you had to find which was the mysterious perfect match to some character? It came to my mind a board game I used to play a lot when I was a teenager called Dream phone; quite cheesy but hours of fun with my girl friends :P

    1. Guess who put batteries into the tamagotchi - saw the egg on screen - freaked out and put a plastic bit underneath the batteries to turn it off after googling there was no turn off button :P lol lol

The board game is about collecting, a head, middle and legs of your "perfect match" or an awesome 80s picture of a random person that you get given at the start of the game :) You collect the cards by being able to guess personality questions about those who you play with! I proudly won our first ever game of perfect match :)

      he he
