Prom Party

So I talked about only taking a handful of photos on my other camera (that one not rigged up to the photo booth station) so here's those photos for you.

Above was our prom King and Queen voting station.  There were voting instructions framed to the left (hidden by balloons in the pic) and then the sashes and crowns and the trophy (for best dancer) on display.

The vote box, which I made just by wrapping a box in shiny fabric I had lying around. I also had left over, from the sashes, some silver scrapbooking letters to spell out 'vote' (it's the little things people!)

I also mentioned about having instructions on the tripod in the photobooth area, again I'd definitely recommend physically showing people how to work the camera as well :)

You can see the DJ set up area - I actually think this was taken the next morning judging by the beer but you get the idea :) The aftermath that was the next morning did look incredibly photogenic so I'll share those trash photos with you guys too!

And a close up of the vote box :)

Ben got me a corsage which was awesome and matched my dress awesomely :) I wore a heart shaped locket with a picture of us two together inside *cheese*

As you came into the house I had a box of corsages set up that people could take and wear, I think I ended up with around 25 of them and even though it was a last minute idea it turned out to be a nice thought :) Tomorrow I'm sharing some close ups of the corsages to give you more of an idea of how they looked too.

The crowns and trophy on a shelf that lowy actually put up for us. We bought the trophy from an op shop, made a new plaque out of fimo clay, which we then spray painted gold. The guy on top was given a fresh coat of gold paint and I even gave the wood sides a new coat of varnish, so it turned out pretty pimp by the end. The trophy was actually for a cricket award but the guy on top sort of looked like he was dancing - we just gave him a tutu from some frilly ribbon that I had lying around and bob's your uncle :)

Our room mate Daz is a musician so we got him on board to DJ for the night, we did a call out on Facebook for music requests and I left the music duties to Ben and Daz :) Daz also had led string lights, a light machine and a black light, so our lighting was pretty rad!

Ben getting his dance on :)

And DJ Daz :)

Thanks for playing along, I hope the few photos I did take gave an idea of the set up.  I was initially thinking it would be outside but I'm so glad someone mentioned we should set up in the lounge, it gave our few decorations more oomph and also perfect if the weather would have turned out dismal. The weather was actually lovely so we were able to have a little chill out area outside which was nice - did I mention it was one super fun party? lol (maybe just once or twice!)

    1. Aww thanks Mariko, since we don't officially have proms in Australia I'm sure I missed something out but hopefully all my American movies watching was able to cover most of it :)

  6. Oh! The corsages are a must in any prom party!!! good thinking! :) Where did you get your "princesses" corsages? :) I now understand better your explanation about the remote controller and the instructions. The DJ area is super professional. Do you have the song list of the night? The voting box is another cool detail, everything looks beyond great.

Btw, I love the necklace with your pictures on it, I know you know I would love this :) cheesy guilty!

    1. When people started to put on the corsages I was almost a bit shocked because I had thought they would just sit in the box untouched :P I ended up making them, I've got a post today a little bit more about them (a little bit!). I can definitely find the play list or at least the songs people suggested on our fb party page, I know Daz culled them a little because he ended up mixing up the songs and some songs wouldn't play nicely with others.

I knew you would love it!!! :) :)
