Flower Pressing

Life has been a bit up and down of late, so I thought I would pop in and show you guys that I finally pressed some flowers!

Now I just need to work on my print gocco design and start making some paper! I've been collecting a bunch of old paper scraps, it's amazing how much paper gets discarded (or at least thrown in the recycling bin) bit excited to be able to recycle them myself though :)

Hope everyone else is doing okay, I know there has been mega downs for people around me of late, possibly linking to some solar flare activity. If you're at all interested in the way our universe can have an effect on our lives, I definitely recommend you check out Elizabeth Peru on Facebook, I like to tell everyone about her because I find her information really valuable but I also understand its not everyone's cup of tea. I may even look slightly silly for mentioning her but if it helps just one other person out than it's worth it to me :)

  4. Beautiful!

I used to press flowers as a kid in Kenya. I would get my mum's biggest most heaviest books and line a page with tissue and press the flowers within them. Then forget that which book! Months later I would pick up a book to peruse and translucent flower and petals would float out of the pages.

    1. Hopefully it turns out - I have memories of a kid, of paper making being rather uneventful :P

    1. Thanks Jane! Since I've been reading her page she has always offered daily free information about what's going on but over the last week or so has moved her e-newsletter to be a paid subscription and I just saw this morning she is providing most of the info there now :( I guess we all need to sustain ourselves, so I can't be too upset.

    1. I have no idea - Maybe I could incorporate them into the paper? yikes.
Thanks though Emily! I think your parcel is almost ready but since it's slightly bulky/semi heavy I don't think you'll want me to ship it to America. I'll send you an email anyway when it's ready :)

    1. Oh it was really easy, I put them in the press (made sure they were in between two pieces of paper) and left them alone for two weeks, had a peek and they were ready :) I think next time I'll make sure they are laid out a bit nicer - it's hard with flowers though because they stick up slightly and have rounded edges.

    1. I think I told you guys the wrong time about her because it seemed (just in the last week or so) she has switched to making most of her info paid for (which is understandable) but free info is also nice too :) I've been following her for about 6 months and in that time her information has really helped me - so I thought it was appropriate to do a shout out :) Nice to view life from different perspectives

  11. Hope you will share the gocco printing process, I'm so intrigued as I have never used one! :) My friend Anna is s firm believer of spiritual healing so I'm slowly more interested in learning more about it. Hope you're feeling much better by now! :) I'm right now in the down side with going back to work next Monday and vacation nostalgia.

    1. Yeah - I'm still a little nervous to use my gocco but I have to get over that :P Coming back from a holiday can definitely have a down side but it's fun (and hopefully not too stressful) to get to relive it through editing photos!
