I've been seeing these super cute paw stockings on etsy and after finding a sweet home-made stocking whilst thrifting it was a pretty simple DIY from there on in :)
Some left over pieces of felt, some googling of cat paws (cute and fun exercise!) and a few stitches later - hey presto!
You can see just how small Gremlin's stocking (or gigantic ours are) in comparison.
I always get a little sad seeing home made items at thrift stores - so much work and materials to be sold for 50 cents! On the flip side I appreciate the time and effort that went into making the stocking, so it went to a good home :)
Ben and I have already figured out what we're getting Gremlin - a small wrapped bag of deli ham. He especially loves food if he gets to bite through the wrapping - a discovery made from leaving our shopping out on the counter (once or twice) :p
I told Ben next year I'm going to embroider our names onto our stockings! I did spy whilst over at my sweet cousin's house her stockings modified using tinsel pipe cleaners to spell out names (super clever and maybe a little easy than potential embroidery adventures!)
how cute. I think he most definitely deserves his own stocking :)
ReplyDeleteIt would be criminal to of left him out :P
Deleteembroidering names would be such a sweet addition to the stockings! i was going to buy them this year but decided not to and maybe make them too next year. we'll see! :)
ReplyDeleteMaking is always way nicer but making things takes so much time! I 100% cheated with the stockings so being able to do some nice add-ons is my way of craft redemption :P
Deleteaww so cute! :) I'm sure he'll love his stocking & present :) I totally just went the pipe cleaners and hot glue gun for our stockings lol I have no talent in the embroidery department :) 7 sleeps yay!!! <3
ReplyDelete7 sleeps - woohoo, I think your pipe cleaner names turned out rad, definitely an easier solution :)
Deleteawww you are extra sweet in your carefully picked present for Gremlin :)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty confident it will be received well :)
DeleteSuper cute. Gatsby and Kala have to share a stocking, but I'm thinking I should find a way to personalize it for them.
ReplyDeleteHey nothing wrong with teaching the art of sharing :) Doing a bit of customising is cute though!
DeleteLove how it turned out!!! and looooove that they are in scale being your feet also much bigger than Gremlin paws :) mm pipe cleaners! need to see this! I vote for a DIY next year! Gremlin's present looks double fun, Juno is one to admire maybe even more the wrapping than the content ;)
ReplyDeleteExactly, it's all about the scale! :) I think cats are just like us with the wrapping, so curious to what lies beneath!!
