So the other
week, Ben and I visited GOMA with our friend Phil :) GOMA is the Modern
Art Gallery in Brisbane and at the moment their exhibiton focuses on
Japanese art after 1989! My cup of tea :)
We found awesome Yayoi Kusama works :)
Inside "The Obliteration Room", where you get to stick up dots to transform the previously white space

The craftsman ship in the Indigenous Art section always blow me away!

My only criticism of this current exhibition is that we had seen a lot of the artworks before. It's only a minor complaint because I really love all the works they curated together!
Kohei Nawa's pixcell deer returned and also parts of pip and pop's "we miss you magic land" installation - you can see past photos I took here
So cute!
The boys were especially blown away by this incredible woodblock print by Sachiko Kazama
and my favourite piece was this painting by Tomoko Kashiki, cutely titled "eating grass"
eep!
We also took a wander around west end to check out some graff
It's nice to see Brisbane getting behind artists initiatives such as the 'Pillars Project' :)
I currently have a lovely blank piece of wood that Ben bought me to start a new painting on and it makes me excited for the possibilities :)

DeleteShe would definitely be into the colours, but she seems to have a bit of a sticky things phobia lol, she likes stickers - just doesn't want to touch them. She happily instructs me to stick them though ;)

DeleteWhat an awesome collection of curated items, Yoshitomo Nara ♥ and I really love the deer and the eating grass paiting (in fact swooning over it!), who I am kidding? I am in love with everything! :) - Do you have anything already in mind for the wood piece?
ReplyDeleteI've already spray painted a swirly pastel background and I'm thinking of drawing lots of little characters with a few little gremlins (the cat version!) thrown in :)

I always have to give props to our Brisbane Gallery, they know how to curate interesting exhibitions and 90% of the gallery is free to visit too :)
