Clay /2

Last time, I blogged about clay I told you guys I had a third lotus in the making and I was scared he wouldn't survive a bisque firing, well he didn't :P

I also said how I made two other flower-esque things....

A geometric flower cat and a...well, a flowerpillar?!?

The cat's paint job came out bubbly and gross (except the flower turned out pretty so I might try and smash it off and make some kinda mosaic creation from it).  The Caterpillar on the other hand, turned out pretty spiffy :)

He wasn't without his own heartache - damn you little black leaves! You're actually looking at the second set I made of them and even then during the glaze firing they fell off and stuck to his sides. Luckily a little bit of elbow grease and touch up saw him back to new health!

Things I learnt:
* working small is hard
*if clay is too thin it'll likely break
* glazes are unpredictable!

    1. I've got another crazy hybrid in the early stages but it's kind of ridiculous and everytime I think of it I laugh :P Hopefully it survives just for comical sake :)
