Baby Goanna

We live in an area that's semi rural and thus critter a-plenty but the other day was especially awesome because we got to rescue a BABY GOANNA! Goannas get huge and to be honest, kind of more on the scary side than the cute but this dude was just perfect :)

We also have some frangipani's in bloom at the moment in our yard which is super pretty :)

On the left is a view of our backyard, we live in a share house of sorts, so technically not our background but just part of the property :)

And lastly a photo of the little dude running down Ben's leg as we put him somewhere a little less cat friendly :)

    1. I really like where we live, it's quite close to shops and the main road that leads down to Brisbane City but we're surrounding by farms so it has this extra sweet element :)

  3. I may be super late, but I absolutely love the new picture of you on the blog! Good to see your face :) Also, this baby Goanna is just amazing!! I'm not a big fan of reptiles but wow. What an incredible photo. And amazing how it let it be held. Nature is just awesome!

    1. Aww thanks Juli! Thought I should take one with my blonde hair, woohoo!! You definitely wouldn't want to pick up an adult Goanna, those claws get super big but Ben said his little baby claws didn't even leave a mark, I'm still a wiener though and let Ben do the re-locating!

  4. Wow, the property looks amazing, I bet it must be so inspiring to look at! I'm such a scaredy-cat with reptiles of all sorts (minus tortoises) but I surely can admire their beauty from a distance, this little fella has a gorgeous print and is so tiny! Was he adventuring inside your home?

    1. It's really nice where we live :) From my room I have a view out to the ponies, so that gets big bonus points. For some reason I have loved lizards ever since I was little! I'm a scaredy-cat on most other things though and hey I was still slightly scared of baby goanna claws even though Ben assured me they were super non sharp! :P He was actually just out in our garden when Gremlin spied him and we quickly got in before Gremlin did :)

  5. Have I ever told you that I LOVE lizards? I LOVE them but Hiro LOVES LOVES LOVES them. I cannot wait to show him this blog post. Once, when he was a little boy, he caught one. He used to like to like to nuzzle things with his nose and he tried this with the lizard. It bit him HARD and wouldnt let go. Eventually it did. He had a mark on his nose for weeks after. :)

    1. Aww that's such a funny/sweet story!!! Lizards are awesome, I love their skin and markings and four little legs and tail. I've always dreamt of having my own little blue tongue lizard friend, we'll see, I wouldn't want to put him in harm of Gremlin, so I might just have to live vicariously through google images for now :)
