Book Review - Plant Style

plant style Alana Langan and Jacqui Vidal
Plant style is a book by Alana Langan and Jacqui Vidal the founders of Ivy Muse, a plant store located in Melbourne. Their first book is jammed packed full of botanical inspiration.  The main feature of the book is a how-to on plant styling but you'll also find plant health with advice for watering and home placement, so your plants will thrive.  I assumed I knew 90% of what I was about to read but found myself acquiring loads of new information in a lovely straightforward way.

The main gem of the book, and what sets it apart, is the step-by-step approach to plant styling.  A quick google of Ivy Muse will show you their modern take on styling with plants, in a clean and fresh way.  I learned how to consider plant texture, shape, and height.  I learned the function of pots and stands in the styling process and the importance of placement, draping, and grouping.  I fell in love with hoyas and quickly acquired three new beauties for my home, whilst also reshuffling my other house plants to work better together.

I also appreciate that the plants featured throughout the book are easily accessible and affordable.

The writing is great, the photos beautiful and the advice very helpful.
