This week's Floral Friday is all about flowers that 'made me smile' which I love. I've chosen a photo I took on our trip to Port Macquarie, a couple of weeks back now. Having just dropped Ben back at the airport on Wednesday (gone for another 6 weeks) it was a nice way to cheer myself up, looking through our holiday snaps.
I feel like I've been choosing quite cliched flowers for my Floral Fridays but I'm not going to lie big colourful hibiscus make me happy and definitely remind me of my favourite season, summer. By the way, I'm desperately trying to hold onto any glimpse of Summer - unfortunately I'm also currently wearing a jumper :P
I took this photo using my canon eos 3 film camera and 800 lomography film. I'm really loving lomography's film, I feel the colours are so nice for the price :) When I was researching hibiscus flowers I read about how they are unfortunately attacked by a variety of bugs which made me focus in on all those poor little leaf holes - get better plant!
Floral Fridays is a monthly photography project with different themes each month. This series is about fun and taking time out to smell the flowers. To play along, please email Trishie (trishie@underlockandkeyblog. com) for next month's theme

Beautiful capture! Glad they managed to cheer you up after dropping Ben off. I hope the six weeks fly by really quickly for you.
ReplyDeleteme too Trishie :) :)
ReplyDeleteI love hibiscus - they remind me of a little Rainbow Lorikeet I once rehabilitated. He had a broken wing and spent almost a year with us. I never fed him commercial parrot food as he wouldn't get that in the wild so I used to feed him fruit and flowers - one of his favourite was the hibiscus, which he was fed when I couldn't find any native blossoms.
ReplyDeletethat is way too sweet!!
DeleteLove the bold color of this flower. I never used Lomography film before but I might try it now.
ReplyDeletemy advice is to always have low expectations with film but overall I've been super happy with lomo being my everyday film choice :)
DeleteLove hibiscus! I have fond connections with it as I see them a lot where I'm originally from in Taiwan. And they're just so bold and command your attention! -M
ReplyDeletethey definitely do command your attention, it's nice to have a connection to them too - happy memories :)
Deleteuau the color is amazing and there is not a simple sign of grain anywhere :) maybe i have to try this film - when i stop being broke ahah
ReplyDeleteit's pretty amazing for 800 isn't it with the grain factor, maybe taking it on a sunny day helped :) I'd definitely recommend you give it a go when you have some spare coin!
Deleteso beautiful. they kind of remind me of morning glories without the middle part. and such a pretty color combination in the photo! :)
ReplyDeleteI think morning glory is considered a weed here but I always think how pretty their flowers are :)
