Our Valley Trip with Phil

As promised the rest of the photos from our Valley catch up with Phil, it was a pretty quick catch up but we did manage to pack in as much street art as we could, unfortunately they have really cracked down on the Brisbane street art scene making spots harder to find these days :(

The mural above is by an artist called Beastman and sits outside an indie radio station 4ZZZ :)

I definitely don't know all the Brisbane artist I just tend to take photos of what appeals to me like cute chicken paste-ups!

I also wanted to start taking more photos of the architecture around - something I often overlook.

A Lister piece out the back of Rehab Records. Lister is a well known artists who has Brisbane roots and who gets mixed reviews on personality :P

I'm sure I've taken this photos before but we usually go adventuring at night - it was a nice change to be able to take photos in the daylight with nice lighting :)

 looking up

Super kawaii :P

Mario! Raccoon Mario was always my favourite add on

Ben and I stopped in at the Brat Haus for some yummy hot dogs, the place had a cool theme with a beer garden out the back complete with an awesome painting by Sofles (definitely one of my fav Brisbane artists!)

Look at that action shot!

The streets were eerily quiet due to a public holiday

I'm not sure if you guys know but I've got a soft spot for taking photos of signs :P

Garfield is making a comeback peeps, mark me words :)

Scuba monkey!

Phil and Ben doing their thing :)

and a photo for a bike safety campaign perhaps or too cliched?

Lucky last shot - the things you find lying in the streets!

Floral Friday: While Walking

Whilst I keep you all in suspense as I prepare all the prom posts (it was beyond amazing btw!) I'm stopping in today for floral Friday. This months theme is 'while walking'. I had grand plans of walking cute neighborhoods and bringing you sweet manicured flower beds but in reality I ran out of time. Instead, whilst Ben and I were in the valley catching up with a friend, I took that opportunity to snap all things floral :)

I really loved this month's challenge that forced me to look in places I'd previously would have glanced over.  Maybe I need to always set myself a photo challenge when I go to already discovered places.

Floral Fridays is a monthly photography project with different themes each month. This series is about fun and taking time out to smell the flowers. To play along, please email Trishie (trishie@underlockandkeyblog. com) for next month's theme

See you guys next week for prom related goodness, I have lots to share!!

Film - Brisbane

When I was in search for the Friday floral post on something romantic I visited New Farm park in Brisbane to suss out their rose garden but I also swung by the valley to snap some street art as well :) I never showed those photos so I'm sharing them today :) These were all shot on kodak portra 160 film using my canon 1000f.

The back piece is by an artist called Shida, who is quite a prolific Brisbane artist and does amazing work.

The flower mural was from New Farm Park but that's another Shida piece on the left and I believe the character riding him is by the artist ghost patrol (Melbourne artist).

Death bug paste up by philb - totally awesome dude!!

And lastly (although I didn't take the best photo) the white and black paste up guy with the crown is by humble dumpling :) :)

(double smiley for that one)

Harajuku Gyoza - Brisbane

On Saturday night I got to catch up with my friends and finally eat at Harajuku Gyoza in the city. I've tried to go before but as they dont take bookings it's a long wait to get a table! The secret is...go just on six! As one of my friends Mel said, food is average - great but it's the atmosphere that makes this place rock, lots of cheering (especially if you order sake!) and it really took me back to the izakaya's in Japan! *thumbs up*

If you go definitely order the chicken karaage! Yummo!

How cute is their dumpling logo by the way...eep!!
