Collections - Shells

When I was little I used to collect shells, there is something so nice about finding treasure at the beach. I'll admit these days I'm more likely to pick up sea glass then shells but I'm always on the look out. My shell collection is pretty refined and I'm super picky to what I keep but I don't mind taking home broken bits of shell if I think they look pretty or interesting.

I've also been happily gifted some shells as well :)

Do you guys collect shells?

  2. Wow, you have some really pretty ones! I don't visit beaches a whole lot (probably mentioned this on your sea glass post as well…) and the last one I went to only had rocks, no sand and no shells unfortunately:(
I always love those wrapped up oval ones, the ones that are often used in African jewelry.

  3. Beautiful collection. If you haven't seen it already you should google 'sand under microscope', it will make you want to bring the whole beach whole with you.

  5. I used to collect shells when I was a kid, my sisters and I ended up with a huge collection, some including whole crayfish shells that we were lucky enough to find. Over several house moves the collection has been reduced, I only have a couple of shells now and know that my sister only kept some of her favourite ones.
    Yours are lovely!

    1. I can definitely relate I've only kept one shell from when I was a kid and that's the guy bottom left who I found on grade 7 camp :) I think as a kid you tend to find everything beautiful but you have to narrow it down somewhat otherwise that's when you enter hoarder territory!! he he he
      Thanks Sarah!

    1. At the moment they're just in a wooden display box with little compartments, I'd like a better way to display them though!

  9. Your shells collection is so pretty, very cute pieces, I am not sure if some of them can be found here in the Mediterranean, I should look better I guess :) My mom loves to collect shells, rocks and sea glass; the moment she puts a foot in the beach she starts walking and looking around. Your collections makes me inspired to find a pretty way to display her collection, it's a pity they are inside a drawer.

    1. Your Mum sounds awesome and sort of exactly like me :P At the moment mine are just in a wooden display box (with different compartments) but I think I'd like to find an even better way myself to display them, more spread out for sure :)
