Hello everyone, I disappeared again, tends to happen when Ben comes back from work and I get distracted by the off-line World. September was a bit gloomy for me but I'm feeling positive with the spring equinox having just occurred and us Southern Hemisphere peeps heading into the warmer months, woohoo, definitely feeling good about October :)
Today I'm posting a bunch of photos from ages ago when Ben treated me to an impromtu Brisbane trip. We checked out GOMA (gallery of modern art). An amazing exhibition called Harvest was on, my fav being the kitsch collection of pineapple themed found object. Unfortunately it's now over (sorry for the late posting). We also wandered the streets, ate tasty things, stayed in an awesome 5 star hotel and watched a crazy victoria-secrets-esque circus at night. The next day we also managed to check out an awesome local graff artist by the name of Shida who had an exhibition at the powerhouse :)
Okay prepare yourself for a visual feasting!!
The kid's section of the gallery is always so cool - this exhibition we got to make bandanas!
The sexy circus! No photos were allowed unfortunately but lets just say there was lots of lacey underwear and me inappropriately laughing as they tried to make roller skating sexy :P
And below the Shida exhibition and a crazy kitsch pineapple scene thrown in for fun :)

It's wedding season here in Australia so that has been eating my time too but it's fun and I'm feeling inspired! Missed you guys!
Aw I'm sorry September wasn't awesome for you matey *hug hug*
ReplyDeleteThe pineapple stuff looks amazing, love it :)
Feeling super optimistic for October (and the last bit of September!) :) :)
DeleteIt was super kitschy amazing-ness!
In other news - i have procured you some deliciously cheap coconut chips, shall I post them to you? :)
ReplyDeleteYAY! Oh no need to post will arrange to catch up with you guys :) Is your schedule still super busy?
DeleteCool, October is a lot calmer for us lol, just give us a heads up and we should be around :) xxx
Deletecoolies!!
DeleteI only just discovered your wedding photography - lady you're incredible!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm disappointed that exhibition is over. I'm in Brisbane over the weekend and would have loved to see it
Aww thank-you!! I don't know what is the next exhibition on offer but GOMA always delivers, I would definitely recommend checking it out if you have the time :) The museum next door is awesome too but for some reason we always rock up in Brisbane too late and have to choose GOMA or the museum and the art gallery seems to always win out :P
DeleteI missed your posts! :) I love those pineapples too and would like to visit Melbourne one day. All you blogging Aussies make your country look so vibrant and beautiful! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI may be biased but I think Australia is definitely a fun place to visit :) But hey adventure is also what you make it too :)
DeleteThese are incredible! I love modern art museums. And you're right, the pineapples look awesome. I feel like Pineapples are in at the moment for some reason lol.

It is an awesome museum :)
DeleteHappy you are back! I was missing your posts here :) Hahaha what a wonderful museum that they have a harvest focused exhibition, the large tropical still life painting is magnificent and love all the kitschy golden pieces & displays. Thumbs up for Ben for the treat! So curious now to see how skating may be depicted as sexy, I guess they relied on the underwear? ;) Oh! and love the bike! :)
ReplyDelete:) That huge tropical painting was radness, I would love to have that in my house :)
DeleteThe storyline was super sexy, I think it was their honeymoon night (If I was following the story correctly) and they'd spin each other and take off more clothes but at the end all I could think was they were (cutely!) rollerskating together and they whole thing became super funny :P
oh my god. that pineapple exhibition looks AMAZING! I want everything! so darn kitsch! those big pineapple teatowels are great! I wonder what happened to all the stuff when the exhibition finished? so lovely that ben surprises you with trips to amazing places like these :-)
ReplyDeleteKnew you would love this Emily! From reading the blurb they did a big call out for Queensland, pineapple themed wares which people submitted - I guess everything goes back to their original owners at the end :( I think the artists behind it do this series around the World (I could be wrong though!)
Deletefantastic pics. I so miss the city!!! any city really...
ReplyDeleteit's weird how you appreciate things you're away from :) Not living in the city anymore (although I spent the majority of my life there) makes me always excited to return!
DeleteHAY FEE! I've missed you here so much! Your hair is super cute right now and I hope you're feeling way more awesome (: How amazing is spring (apart from the hayfever!) Love you lots x
ReplyDeletespring is so great and happy!
DeleteI'm full on committed to solely cutting my own hair now :)
so happy to see you back! and with so many wonderful pictures, too — i love those pineapples! thank you for posting!
ReplyDeleteAww thanks Shoko!
Deletepineapples everywhere :D
ReplyDeletepineapple crazy!
Deleteamazing! i love that circular exhibition! the black and white picture is amazing! and i love your hair. almost makes me want to have a shot cut again! :)
ReplyDeleteThat circular piece is made out of spices and cutlery :) It's really rad. I wish I could do long hair but my hair is so thin, it only really looks good when I cut it short!
DeleteThe sexy circus sound really interesting. So nice of Ben to surprise you with a trip to Brisbane. Hope October will be a great month for you x
ReplyDeleteLove the look of this trip!
