Melbourne: The First Three Days

I will warn you and say this holiday was largely based around eating, which in my humble opinion is never a bad thing :) I still lovingly think back to all the amazing food options I had available especially when faced with the one item menu places I currently have surrounding me. Fitzroy was food paradise!

The awesome blue house by Lucas Grogan in Emaya's hood

On the first day I was super slack and took no photos but I did eat an  amazing breakfast at a cafe called Admiral Cheng Ho with a 8/10 coffee - 10/10 with sugar! :p We also went food shopping and I discovered the most amazing non-diary yoghurt (Botanical Cusine's Blueberry Acai). I've since discovered it at a place close to home so I'm feeling pretty stoked to have yoghurt back in my life. Emaya's and I did try and duplicate the recipe and we did pretty good we just needed some slight adjustments on the ratios!

Day two and Emaya took me to lunch at Fred Gets, where I got the healthiest meal of my trip, a selection of three salads served in a cute white enamel bowl :) We also ventured to her fav tea shop, called Storm in a Teacup where I had a delicious tea called Braveheart and Emaya ventured for Houjicha! Emaya also made me a brew of pu-erh tea every morning, which was magical! Didn't I say she was the best host ever!

At home we began the fun hair dye process - round one (I'm going to compile a complete guide at some point because we learnt a lot!) and then Emaya taught me how to make Dahl and delicious nut bread!

Day three we hit up Addict for some coffee, it got a Fee rating of 7/10 (8.8/10 with sugar) I also made sure to order the same coffee everywhere (soy latte) to keep the scoring accurate!

and at night, Emaya, her roommate Stu and I went to Shu Restaurant where we ate a Vegan Degustation. I'm not a huge foodie so had no idea what that meant but soon found out it's a whole bunch of small dishes to take you on an exciting food journey. yes please! there was some argument at the end of it all that the last three dishes, bought out in big bowls to share, kind of cheated on the degustation part but for me getting to eat a variety of food was amazing in itself :)

Oh my gosh I've officially just went and made myself super hungry!

  1. Food is always such an important part of our trips, our family make fun of us for the amount of food pics in every travel because they think it's quite unusual (wonders! hahaha). I love love love your pictures of Emaya they are amazing, the focus, colors, face expression! I bet your hair adventures are going to be so much fun to read, can't wait :) & hope there are still many more pics of Melbourne left! Need to see more!

  2. almost all my travels revolve around the local cuisine. when my sister and i visit a place together, our itinerary is structured from the top rated coffee shops in the area and build the rest off from there! we rationalize that for all the walking we do between food stops, we're mitigating the calories consumed. ha!
p.s. can't wait to see the new hair color! :)
