Japan Road Trip: Shiga Prefecture

We left our Kuwana, Michi No Eki and set off in the direction of Nara. The nice thing about driving is if we saw something awesome, we made it a point to pull over and explore.

When we saw what looked like an abandoned building that's exactly what we did :)

An abandoned building with a street cat gets bonus points and so does Ben who always went out of his way to buy the cats fresh food :)

Maybe some smart person with Japanese skills can tell me what the building above is or was - our guess was a drum shop based on, well the drums left behind :P

Inside was pretty wicked.

Across the carpark was this structure, we thought it was a pachinko (gambling business) but we weren't 100% sure on that one.

It did have that amazing taxidermy in the basement though!

And some stain glass in the foyer :)

We also pulled over when we saw all these plum blossoms in bloom lining a river bank

And we did a short walk to a pretty little waterfall :)

Our campervan for our trip, which was the perfect size for us :)

Such cute ume!

Where we stopped next is quite possibly my favourite part of our holiday so it gets its own special blog entry, eep - stay tuned!

    1. oh is it? Thanks for the heads up, I asked Ben again and his guess now was it's a restaurant of sorts, but I dunno! Hopefully someone will know!

  4. Are those "tanukis" on the drum shop? Aww, all these pictures show how amazing is to have your own ride, that you are able to stop where your eye catches something magical :) wish I could actually drive, I have a license but I'm out of practice to hire a car.
