Ben and I celebrated our 10th year anniversary on the first of Feb. We don't really know when we officially became official but the first seems to be a good guess. We decided this year we should do all the lame things in our town that we've previously been too scared to do. We had a big list, which included an astronomy centre run in some guys backyard, a dodgy cafe and this place called Thrill Hill - literally one big slide in someone's backyard.
We started the day off at our local farmers market where Ben bought me delightful vegan treats and then headed off to do the first thing on our list, Thrill Hill! It was simultaneously better and worse than we'd imagined. The couple who run it were incredibly crusty, the price was crazy ($20 for 50 mins, for one slide!) BUT that slide was actually insanely fun. Big shock to us!
We over heard a family telling their kid not to injure themselves and then the lady at the counter replied, "more like, you better not damage our slide".
They have these mats which make you go faster (although Ben swore he got the most speed without). I tried the mat and it was too fast for me (A+ weiner) so I handed it back to the guy and said "It's extreme enough without it" (in a very jokey way) and he started to launch into how the ride WAS extreme and they have signs letting you know that :P
For fun a little video of Ben and I doing the slide thing :P
The dodgey cafe we wanted to go to was closed so instead we checked out a new vegan cafe in Buderim. It was beyond delightful. The food was great and the service amazing (such a contrast to our Thrill Hill experience). If you live on the Sunshine Coast, definitely give Cafe Vie a try!
YUM YUM!
We don't exchange presents anymore, instead, we spend the money on the day's activities.
Cards are non-negotiable though!

After the cafe, we took a stroll around a nursery and I bought a beautiful yellow kangaroo paw which I shamefully don't have a photo of (you'll just have to use your imagination).
How gorgeous are these silvery pink guys, named Syngonium Neon
Afterwards we strolled around the Buderim art gallery and decided to have a snooze before our next afternoon adventures. What's funny is that Thrill Hill wiped us out and we decided to raincheck all the other adventures for another day :P
At the markets I picked up a plant I've been wanting for ages, it's a Heliconia, called, Hot Rio Nights. I saw a landscape designer use one and knew it'd be the perfect amount of tropicana for our own garden.
