Mothar Mountain

We've had a jam packed house of visitors these last few weeks and despite being super busy I really didn't take too many photos - which makes for a slightly uninspiring blog but lucky I did take some shots when, Lowie, Ben and I went to check out some rock pools near Gympie. I wouldn't say they were the most amazing rock pools I'd ever seen but we all agreed it was nice to go to a new location :) It's also a little sad looking at these photos because on Monday I had to drop off Ben for a 6 week work hitch in the desert.  Lucky I have cutie Gremlin to cuddle at night :)

Ben took a hold of my camera during the trip so quite a few of these photos are his - for once I thought better of my unstable ways (rock hopping with my camera a day before a wedding :p).

Afterwards we stopped in at a crystals shop that we visited last time.  There's a spoiler to what gems I picked up over on my insta and a blog post coming up too! Stay tuned!

Twin Lakes Caravan Park

Isn't twin lakes caravan park the best name?
It sounds like it should feature in a seedy c-grade movie.

When I got word on the twin lakes being abandoned I wrote it down on my to-do-list for Ben and I to explore when he returned from work.  When we finally managed to visit, it was already being torn down except for some of the animal statues out front :( I must point out that despite asking/convincing/pleading if we could perhaps put one of the animals in the car, I was met back with solid reasoning about the logics of doing so :p Something about them being really heavy or something or other!

I still think we should of tried because when I was back in Gympie a few weeks later, there were no animals left :(

Utter tragedy!

These photos were all taken using my Canon 1000F and 800 lomo film for those playing along at home

Gympie Gem Shop

On our way home from the camping trip we finally stopped in at a Gem Shop we had driven past countless times before. It always seemed slightly odd and the fear of finding ourselves inside, awkwardly standing around made the prospect of stopping uninviting. This time though we must have been feeling courageous or maybe it was safety in numbers that saw us pulling into an almost empty car park.

It was pretty much how I imagined it would be inside, a treasure trove full of years worth of collecting, by a grumpy old couple.   When we walked in the older lady was clearly fed up by a sweet pair of boys who couldn't make up their mind which gems to buy, patience obviously not her forte :p

We still had fun exploring and I went home with three pretty gems. Ben remarked as we were leaving that I happened to pick the most obnoxiously girly and fake gems from the whole shop, and when I looked down at our two different piles, examining Ben's earthy choices, I had a little chuckle at my selection :p

I'll make sure to post a photo of the gems I picked :)

All you can eat Pizza Hut Gympie

So I've been spreading the rumor that the Gympie Pizza Hut was the last all-you-can-eat joint left in Queensland, a quick google search proves that to be very wrong, but hey, it did make the experience a lot more elusive

I've been dreaming about this all-you-can-eat experience since forever or at least a few months back now. Ben and I even had an earlier failed attempt when they wouldn't let Ben in cause he wasn't wearing shoes...let's say it was a very quiet car trip home. Ben said he would make it up to me, so we went back last Friday and dived into it!

Now I was pretty confident I could get my money's worth here, $15.95 to be exact, but to my surprise it only took a few slices in to realise I was going to struggle

I don't know if it was nerves or what but in the end I only managed 7 slices....7!!
Even saying that makes me shake my head in disgust

Ben managed 9 slices, bit better and to be honest we did eat some of their garlic bread, mousse and select items from the salad bar, which by the way seriously had nothing on sizzler!

At the end of the day my childhood experiences of the all-you-can-eat experience was much sweeter, maybe because I distinctly remember getting some Land Before Time puppets, sadly lacking from this dining experience!

Afterwards we dragged our swollen bellies down to the gympie park/lake thing

oohhh pretty!

On the way back home, Ben and I spotted the giant kangaroo at a rest stop. Ben did a risky turn around so we could get a photo, ahh that in itself more than made up for the previous, lack of shoes, experience

He also won three skill tester toys which I thought was pretty rad :)

So all in all, an awesome night!
