Scribble Slam

The other week, Ben did something super scary he took on a live painting challenge at Kerbside. Since he normally works smaller than A4, with pens and has the Virgo trait of making his art meticulously perfect - a big wall, using cans, saw him crazy out of his comfort zone. He was also battling against an awesome guy called Jackson and their theme was "de ja vu" - so hard! It was a close call but Jackson took out first place, winning free beer. Second place got the left over spray cans and since Ben hates beer I think it worked out perfectly. We also stopped by Chur Burger beforehand and I got a super yummo, virgin oyster shot and a veggo taco which I give double thumbs up - fun night!

I've  got a bunch of Brisbane photos to share from when we checked out the latest art exhibitions at GOMA - always inspiring, especially since this month's theme was curated around Asian art - eep! Stay tuned :)

Sushi, street art and scribble slam

Yesterday Ben and I took a trip down to Brisbane and caught up with the ever delightful Phil, who does wicked art, you might remember the ladybug artwork he drew for me when I broke my ankle! I scored an awesome new Viking artwork from him, which I'll have to remember to photograph, to show you guys. Anyway our evening started off with sushi train, continued on with street art, detoured to an art event called scribble slam and ended with a delicious slice of pizza (unfortunately not photographed!).

Brisbane might not hold the charm and coolness that some of the other states do but I think it has its own special magic :)
