Lynsey 30th

The other week my friend Shane hired out a boat to surprise his fiancée for her 30th birthday, turns out it was less of a surprise and more of a non-surprise birthday party. Shane is the worst at keeping surprises, I think it was our chat window he left opened too which was responsible! Anyway Birthday girl had fun, I had fun, the day was awesome. We ended up getting pizza afterwards and going to a bar and then I pyked because I'm lame like that and the alcohol had worn off and I got those heavy eyelids :p Oops

It was a first getting to go on one of these hire boats who always sit patiently on the river awaiting tourists

Ben and me doing titanic, come on we had too!

The little girls went fishing which was super sweet to watch

Your not thirty until you have a badge!

So impressed she caught a fish too, of course it was thrown back straight after this photo!

I'm going to compile Ben and My first date story and it involves my friend Shane so remember that face!

My Birthday haul

Gosh I got showered with gifts this year, I like seeing what other people get for their birthdays and I like showing off too, so without further ado, my goodies....

This was a present from my Mum, I didn't previously know about fortune teller fish but turns out they're awesome!  Essentially it's a plastic fish that you put on you palm and how it reacts tells your fortune.

When I put the fish in my palm it's head moved (jealousy) but then it flipped over so I'm guess I'm not really jealous :p When Ben tried he got moving head and tail - so I guess he's in love :)

My friend's Dan and Jess got me an awesome package from Daiso (Japanese store) so much Japanese candies!

My friend Kylie got me a scratchie which I just found out I won $12 bucks on - woohoo. I'm going to buy another one with my winnings and save the half left over. Do you guys buy more scratchies or run away with the winnings?

The rest of the Daiso loot. I feel I'm going to be warm this winter. I'm one of those people who feels the cold and with the temperatures dropping of late, I'm grateful for extra ways to rug up :)

My cousin Heather and Dan's present was so nicely packaged! It came with the above card (3d cat card - woohoo!) and also lots of parcel wrapped in the same cat themed wrapping paper all inside a pink barbie box. Heather always goes above and beyond with presentation 10/10 for sure :)

And inside all those beautiful wrapped parcels were the sweetest gifts, a bunny jumper and frilly socks, oh my goodness - cuteness to the max!

and bunny lights!!!

plsu a whole bunch of cute stationery, if you read my cat blog, you'll know I'm a sucker for those choo choo cats

My family not only loaded me up with money (thank-you family!) but I also got a sweet bundle of gifts, the cat toys were the best idea ever. After hours and hours of play they're no longer looking so pretty but I take that as a lovely sign that Gremlin approved!

I couldn't get a good photo of this card but it is the best shade of pink and super glittery (my big bro knows me too well)

I think I mentioned Emaya gave me a ridiculous thoughtful gift, not only an amazing tea towel by able and game (cool Aussie illustrators) but she got me a plane ticket to go visit her in Melbourne. Her thoughtfulness is so crazy, I mean she flew up for my birthday and then had the thought to fly me down as well! Yikes so amazing :)

This necklace above I got a few weeks before my birthday from my friend's Niece. We all went to the movies together and whilst waiting in line for popcorn she thrust a plastic bag towards me. She's maybe 6 so it was hard to work out why I was getting a plastic bag but we narrowed it down to having a present inside for me. She then told me it was a necklace and I kind of got a little way too excited! As we sat down in the cinema I unwrapped the tapped covered paper to discover a toy sized wheelie bin inside. Not quite the necklace I was expecting but then I realised I needed to look inside :P

Definitely something I would/will totally wear too. I asked if she wanted her wheelie bin back and we both left happy with the exchange :) Still not sure why I got such an awesome necklace but I'm going to guess she has amazing intuition and knew my birthday was around the corner :p

Our awesome artist friend Phil gave me one of his art pack, choked full of goodness. I still have to blog about our outing together but to be honest haven't even looked at those photo yet apart form pulling out all the flower photos for Floral Friday :)

Ben's mum got me a cute kimono card, don't you love getting cards in the mail?
And Ben got me the most outrageous/awesome gift ever...

A tiger bag!!! He got it from a country fair he visited whilst out at work. The bag itself has some stories attached like cheering up a girl who tried to commit suicide, so I like to think of it as a lucky omen, I just have to work out where I can wear it. It's not the most practical of bags, because the content part is just at the back and they haven't really utilied the head for storage but even if I just hang it up for display it will look amazing in my room :)

So yup another super lucky year for me :)

Prom Party

So I talked about only taking a handful of photos on my other camera (that one not rigged up to the photo booth station) so here's those photos for you.

Above was our prom King and Queen voting station.  There were voting instructions framed to the left (hidden by balloons in the pic) and then the sashes and crowns and the trophy (for best dancer) on display.

The vote box, which I made just by wrapping a box in shiny fabric I had lying around. I also had left over, from the sashes, some silver scrapbooking letters to spell out 'vote' (it's the little things people!)

I also mentioned about having instructions on the tripod in the photobooth area, again I'd definitely recommend physically showing people how to work the camera as well :)

You can see the DJ set up area - I actually think this was taken the next morning judging by the beer but you get the idea :) The aftermath that was the next morning did look incredibly photogenic so I'll share those trash photos with you guys too!

And a close up of the vote box :)

Ben got me a corsage which was awesome and matched my dress awesomely :) I wore a heart shaped locket with a picture of us two together inside *cheese*

As you came into the house I had a box of corsages set up that people could take and wear, I think I ended up with around 25 of them and even though it was a last minute idea it turned out to be a nice thought :) Tomorrow I'm sharing some close ups of the corsages to give you more of an idea of how they looked too.

The crowns and trophy on a shelf that lowy actually put up for us. We bought the trophy from an op shop, made a new plaque out of fimo clay, which we then spray painted gold. The guy on top was given a fresh coat of gold paint and I even gave the wood sides a new coat of varnish, so it turned out pretty pimp by the end. The trophy was actually for a cricket award but the guy on top sort of looked like he was dancing - we just gave him a tutu from some frilly ribbon that I had lying around and bob's your uncle :)

Our room mate Daz is a musician so we got him on board to DJ for the night, we did a call out on Facebook for music requests and I left the music duties to Ben and Daz :) Daz also had led string lights, a light machine and a black light, so our lighting was pretty rad!

Ben getting his dance on :)

And DJ Daz :)

Thanks for playing along, I hope the few photos I did take gave an idea of the set up.  I was initially thinking it would be outside but I'm so glad someone mentioned we should set up in the lounge, it gave our few decorations more oomph and also perfect if the weather would have turned out dismal. The weather was actually lovely so we were able to have a little chill out area outside which was nice - did I mention it was one super fun party? lol (maybe just once or twice!)
