My final few badges to show you guys - a few illustration ones I did to add to my gigantic pile! 

Possibly, I made a little too many for myself :p

Bunny badge! I drew this bunny off one of the bunnies we saw at rabbit island in Japan, still can't get over that cuteness of that place

Remember when I said I used the marbled paper we made for something else - this is it!

And lucky last a little swan boat, also inspired from our Japan trip!

Badges - Hand Lettering

Okay I'm back to share a bunch more badges I made when we had access to a badge maker - so fun! I went hand lettering mad, fell into a Pinterest spiral of inspiration + rad blog buddies like Katrina Sophia helped fuel the desire to try myself. I found when learning and practising this blog (Pieces Calligraphy) and its tutorials so so helpful! It gave me confidence really quickly which I didn't think was possible since my hand writing is definitely something I'm not normally proud of! I'm popping up a photo of each finished badge and also the design, because photographing badges is hard especially with the glare factor!

For our recent Japan trip, we used a translator to try and help me get vegan meals. I remember Ben looking into what the direct translation of Kanzen Saishoku Shugi No was and apparently it came up as "perfect vegetable person" which I thought was totes adorable and of course have wanted to make something with that phrase ever since!

Okay there is no denying I'm 100% in support of Adnan coming out of jail, don't know what I'm talking about? Go listen to Serial and promptly follow up with Undisclosed, you can thank me later :)

I'm also definitely a proud cloud watcher! If you're a cloud lover like myself, you should follow the cloud appreciation society on facebook here!

This one was inspired by El Juantastico's hand lettering, I love his 90s messy look he's got going with his work!

Looking at this makes me laugh because I wrote it thinking it said "birthdays suck" when Ben informed me, sux, actually reads sucks - ha ha ha, I'm definitely no gangster :p

I really like how the yellow came out on the black for this one!

and yup, I had to do this one - super romantic at heart!

I need to wear this on the days I want to try and be productive :)

Broad city badges

So our friend lent us his badge maker (so lucky!) and the first thing that came to mind was to make myself a set of broad city badges - conveniently timed with just having watched the third season (so good!)

I loved getting to draw these super funny ladies - do you guys watch the show? I actually didn't super dig it at first but binged it with Emaya last year in Melbourne and now I can't wait till they do a fourth season :)

Do you have a fav character, I think I'm probably most like Abbi but I love Ilana's fashion and have a super sweet spot for Lincoln :)

Mermaid Jewels

I won't lie I go through stages of loving different creative mediums more than others and yup, art fell somewhere by the wayside when I got photography obsessed! This recent painting I'm sharing today reminded me of how much I love it! I got into my head I wanted a fun beach/boho themed work for our bathroom - so that was the starting point and then I got re-obsessed with Mermaids (thanks Damaris!) and it all went from there.

We live in a rental so at the moment I don't even have it hanging up but rather loving leaning against a wall! I'm also super proud because I made the frame myself, it may not match up 100% perfectly in the corners but I'm stoked I pulled it all together :)

I'm really inspired to do more art but my head is always full of way too many ideas and sometimes I have to just focus on one thing to get anything done - do other people suffer this too?

Sailor Cat Girl

I've been all about the art recently and even though this idea took a couple of sketches I couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out. I am hands down a kid of the nineties and would sit watching sailor moon religiously before school each day.

I wanted to do a piece as if cat girl was getting her sailor moon inspiration on. I think in the end it's a nice and subtle tribute :)

Catch Up

Woozers, where did March go? I totes fell off the blogging bandwagon and just when I had prepared a bunch of posts to catch up with our internet cut out and I was forced to do real world stuff. Never fear though because I'm back to bombard you guys with happenings! 

Below is a quick March summary of things, from having Lowie and his dog visit us (Gremlin and Shanti were even, almost friends by the end, I swear!) to being involved in the travelling doll project and happily welcoming Zadie for two weeks. I've been doing weddings, checking out art, making friends with street cats and going to the beach (with some beach finds to share!) I'm also going to share a magic mail parcel I got from Emily next time, which I can't wait to show you guys :)

So that's a really loose catch up of happenings, let's hope April doesn't float away so quickly from me!

Beach missions

I go through a lot of canon printer ink with orders and every time I have to change them I stare lovingly at the pull tabs thinking they're smiling faces! It's the little things people :)

Shanti was the first dog Gremlin has met that didn't want to eat him. Shanti slowly wore Gremlin down with her puppy enthusiasm and you could say they were almost playing by the end, almost (at least from Shanti's perspective)

Weekly Art Challenge - Fox

When we first met, Ben and I started a weekly art challenge that ended after around six weeks - 
hey commitment is hard :p 

Recently, we've both been going through art slumps so we decided to bring back the art challenge as a fun way for us to make art and also (just quietly from me) to stay connected whilst we're apart. I got to pick the first weeks theme, which no doubt was going to be something cute - meet Mr. fennec fox below!

And here what I ended up creating - I initially sketched him, thinking I'd work more on him over the week but got super excited, whipped out my paints and finished him in a few hours

It's nice to be drawing again!

Breaking Bad - Apology Girl Jane

With the finale come and gone I've felt the need to keep my Breaking Bad love alive so I did a quick sketch of one of my favourite characters, Jane.  It's probably no surprise she was one of my favs, I mean, cute girl, draws comics, played a love interest role, yup ticked all my boxes :)  I especially love when she did that Apology Girl Character but I'll stop with the references in case you weren't on board the Breaking Bad train and I know a lot weren't :)

Floating Land

Floating Land is a green art festival that happens once every two years at Lake Cootharaba, Boreen Point (about half an hour drive north of Noosa, QLD). I'd never been until this year, so it was a delight to check out. I won't go into the details of each artwork (there's lots of info on the floating land website) instead I'll just post my favourite photos I took.

(This one was really neat, I'm not sure of you can tell but they're twig chairs in the water)

The festival is on till the 9th of June. I'm going to trek back one more time before it ends as some of the artworks get a light projection at night which sounds intriguing :) there is also music and workshops for those keen!
