Emaya and I had a lovely walk around GOMA last year, Ben and I have just recently been so I thought it was about time I got around to posting these 2019 photos!

I normally shy way from video work (I have a short attention span!) but "Phantom Ride" by Daniel Crooks had me mesmerised.  The footage is taken along train tracks, seaming together different locations, with a view looking forward and back.  Sometimes you have to bow down to someone's artistic vision and be grateful they had the idea and courage to make it happen.

Mermaid Jewels

I won't lie I go through stages of loving different creative mediums more than others and yup, art fell somewhere by the wayside when I got photography obsessed! This recent painting I'm sharing today reminded me of how much I love it! I got into my head I wanted a fun beach/boho themed work for our bathroom - so that was the starting point and then I got re-obsessed with Mermaids (thanks Damaris!) and it all went from there.

We live in a rental so at the moment I don't even have it hanging up but rather loving leaning against a wall! I'm also super proud because I made the frame myself, it may not match up 100% perfectly in the corners but I'm stoked I pulled it all together :)

I'm really inspired to do more art but my head is always full of way too many ideas and sometimes I have to just focus on one thing to get anything done - do other people suffer this too?

Bat Boy

I had a request for a boy-ish print so introducing batboy

One of my lovely customers Nina, sent me through some photos of the print in her sons bedroom :) Nina is a interior decorator and stylist under the name NY Design Australia - you can follow her work via her website here.

How cool is the washi tape frame she used to secure it!!

 I love love love when people send me photos back - still gives me giddy thrills to see my art up in other peoples homes - super thanks to Nina for taking time to do just that :)

Weekly Art Challenge - Fox

When we first met, Ben and I started a weekly art challenge that ended after around six weeks - 
hey commitment is hard :p 

Recently, we've both been going through art slumps so we decided to bring back the art challenge as a fun way for us to make art and also (just quietly from me) to stay connected whilst we're apart. I got to pick the first weeks theme, which no doubt was going to be something cute - meet Mr. fennec fox below!

And here what I ended up creating - I initially sketched him, thinking I'd work more on him over the week but got super excited, whipped out my paints and finished him in a few hours

It's nice to be drawing again!

Breaking Bad - Apology Girl Jane

With the finale come and gone I've felt the need to keep my Breaking Bad love alive so I did a quick sketch of one of my favourite characters, Jane.  It's probably no surprise she was one of my favs, I mean, cute girl, draws comics, played a love interest role, yup ticked all my boxes :)  I especially love when she did that Apology Girl Character but I'll stop with the references in case you weren't on board the Breaking Bad train and I know a lot weren't :)

Real Living Magazine - Burntfeather

I was so delighted when a lovely fan hit me up on facebook with the news that my Cat Girl print was in the July edition of Real Living! I get a lot of inquiries about the Cat Girl print and people wondering why they have seen it elsewhere.  To give a quick run down, I've been working with this delightful company, Mini and Maximus and the cat girl artwork just happened to be one of the designs we have collaborated together on.   Mini and Maximus are responsible for producing a really sweet range of kids wear and prints which I believe are also sold through Bodie and Fou (though I've never dealt directly with them). 

I just recently worked together with Mini and Maximus for a new design called the "Shark Whisperer".

The mermaid on the left was what I came up with for the initial design, upon hearing the brief.  The lass on the right is the final outcome after undergoing a few changes.  It's always interesting to receive a design critique, I guess my brain was going a lot darker than they wanted for a kids company.  I think there is definitely something powerful in collaboration, it pushes you to come up with something you'd never have dreamt of!

Floating Land - Part 2

So I did venture back to Floating Land on Thursday just as the sun was setting. There were various artworks illuminated but not too much light projections, still it was fun to walk the banks and I now have a new fond appreciation for Boreen point :) I did notice a few new artworks or artworks growing, so that was nice.

Little Mermaid

My middle brother Matty, turned 21 on Wednesday and for his Birthday I painted a picture of him and Ariel. He has a slight love obsession for the red head cutie! If I can take a moment to confess, I only just recently watched the little mermaid for the first time. G rowing up being the only girl, I wasn't exposed to a lot of overly girly movies, but now, I can thank Matty, for showing me the Little Mermaid light! :)

I actually remembered to take in between shots when doing this painting, yay!
