Mooloolaba Hangs

Wow, life has been a whirlwind. The short summary is the other week I found out I was finally having my second (and more comprehensive) endo surgery.  I went in on Tuesday 25th, stayed in over night and was back in my own bed Wednesday evening.  It was my longest surgery yet (3+ hours) and yet recovery has been super smooth sailing.  I don't have quite the same energy levels I did pre-surgery but my pain is non-existent and I'm incredibly grateful.  Since I'm on "bed rest" it gives me some time to play blog catch up.  Today are some photos we took a few months back when Ben, Joop and myself went for a beach play date :)

Beach + Seaglass Roundup / 3

I've been hoarding seaglass again to get to share with you guys. I've noticed the seaglass in my area has definitely dwindled down in the last 6 months. My previous advice of going after a storm still rings true but overall (on my beach at least) I find myself coming home with less loot. I guess that's half the fun though, if there was a super abundance it would only taint the magical nature of finding those elusive perfect pieces! Silver lining peeps :)

I definitely find myself going for weird shapes and textures. I got way too excited when I found that sea urchin shell in tact and super super excited to find that little bit of bright blue seaglass.

I actually found another piece when my little bro J came to stay. After spotting it, I muttered something like, "man I am so sorry but I have to keep this" and then five seconds getting the guilts and gifting it to him and his collection. Fast forward to a couple of weeks later and I found my own little blue piece, which was a nice surprise and I figured the Universe definitely had my back that time :)

Fun in the sun

Christmas is gone, New Years is gone and these photos are long gone (but still fun/worthy to post)

My friend Emaya came and stayed with us for a few days (our first house guest!) and we ventured to the beach, have I mentioned a gazillion times before how much I approve of Summer :) :)

Our next house guest is set to arrive soon, my little bro and I can't wait for more beach trips :) Hope you guys are having fun in the start of this New Year!

Mooloolaba Beach

Maybe it's a good thing we moved further away from the beach because it's too easy to take photo of the same spot we always go to - oops! Prepare yourself for an onslaught of Gremlin photos!

My beach treasure finds for the day! I've started keeping my eyes peeled for rocks with holes (don't laugh!)

I was saying the other day how since Ben left I've avoided bathing Gremlin well I just want to report that I've now successfully bathed him by myself :) For others needing encouragement these are my tips especially if you're doing it alone

1) Lots of treats beforehand! I like to butter him up with ham :)
2) Have everything ready - towel, shampoo (cap opened) pouring water
3) Don't put too much water in and use a big space - I'm thinking it helps for them not to feel trapped. I filled up the bath just so it covered his legs but doesn't reach his belly
4) Stay calm - what's the worse that could happen? Bloody arms? A traumatised cat? A soapy cat running around the house?
5) Make it a quick process. I placed him in the tub holding him by the scruff, poured water all over, put on the shampoo and rinsed him off and I also made sure to have the heater going in our room for afterwards.

Actually I lie slightly, don't make the process too quick because you'll have to carry him back upstairs, back into the tub and rinse off that huge soapy patch that you missed *face palm*

I know bathing cats is probably a little stupid (or a lot) but I like to get him all clean before we do his flea/tick treatment. I don't know if any of you have had experience but the spray on tick stuff is almost a a bad as the bath experience - actually it's much worse!

Mooloolaba adventures

Gosh can you believe these shots were from two school holidays gone. My little bro was actually up on Sunday to check out the new place and go geocaching. I only took one or two photos this past weekend so it's nice to be able to share these. It's funny to look back on the photos because Ben was still around then, thankfully he's back in two weeks time :) :)

These photos were taken when we still lived close to the beach, unfortunately it's now a half hour+ drive but I still try and make the trip back once a week to make sure my seaglass collection is thriving - plus I always feel happy being at the beach, soaking up the rays and breathing in that salty air :)

How cool is that Osprey! Every time I visited the beach I always lugged my telescopic lens (135mm) with in hopes of getting that particular shot - I was pretty stoked to have finally snapped it  :)
