Garden 3

 Time for a photo update on our garden!

Our wisteria vine has lost all its leaves and is now in its pretty flowering stage! Also, that flame tree (in the middle) is going great guns - the little lychee tree beside is definitely trying to keep up :P

We decided to buy a bunch of zoysia's to plant in our backyard eating area.  The soil isn't great so we mulched and fertilised in hopes that we'll end up with a carpet of cute fluffy grass one day!

My Grandma's rescued orchids are back in flower!

Running down the side of our house and our rescued figs (from the dump!!) looking healthy - I repainted their pots to crisp them up!

The pine that Ben's mum gifted us is a prolific grower out in the front garden, especially in comparison to the poor little frangipani cutting beside, barely holding on :(

Another shot of our jungle section.  We bought another tree fern which is planted in the back corner. They are going to be such stars when they get more height!

I had to include this sweet rainbow shot.  Beneath that tree is my miscarriage garden with some special plants :)

Our bird of paradise plant that we're always chopping back (too close to the house!).  We might eventually need to hire a digger and move it.  Despite its placement I absolutely love it!

The war on bamboo, we're nearly there! We've completed the house side section and now onto the last corner (big corner!).  Once the bamboo is cleared we can start thinking about our deck, which is going to start at the front of our house and run down the side.  I'm also going to have an art studio - eep, so lucky!!!

We're slowly planting natives in the bank that runs along the side of the house.  It's got the most horrid dry-packed soil and also completely overrun with weeds - work in progress/labour of love!

Nasturtiums and the inspiration behind my last post!

I thought I'd killed this plant by going crazy with the pruning (it had some sort of disease) but it has sprung back to life!

My pride and joy, my weeping tea tree! It's now officially taller than I am :)

The netted-up herb/veggie planter box successfully deterring about 90% of the bugs!

Pretty wisteria!

Around the side, from the bird of paradise, where we've started a garden bed, slow growers! Hopefully not too close to the house, although we did have Ben's mum make sure the placement was a-okay!

We dug out the ochna near the mail box and replaced it.  It was a really nice plant (did a great job at screening!) but unfortunately, it lands on the weed list and we're trying to be good kids and remove all the invasive species!

Such a pretty tree fern! and the hot rio night heliconias (behind) are getting some good height on too!

Sick of wisteria yet? It only blooms once a year - I need to indulge :P

One of the sections I'm most proud of is the garden bed as you enter our house.  It's so sweet!

Unfortunately, that tall tree on the right is an African tulip and also on the weed list - it'll need to go :(

We got this phyllanthus (waterfall plant) free via fb marketplace.  It was a crazy pain to dig out and transplant (ben and I got bitten by lots of ants in the process!) but it's doing so well, it totally seems worth the pain now. You can also see, on the very left, a section of an allamanda vine.  Allamanda's are unfortunately also on the weed list, so it too needs to go.

I remember sucking out the nectar from the stem of nasturtiums as a kid and being in awe that you could eat flowers! How cool is nature!

I'm so in love with our garden and I can't wait to do another one of these posts in 6 months to see what has changed and grown :)

Creative Mock & Submit - August

August and the second in what will be a three-part submission to a mystery company! I'll let you know who it is next month :)  For this month though I was inspired by all the nasturtium I planted in our garden - so pretty!

Year of Blooms - October

So with October came a lot of flowers! 

We're definitely in the thick of Spring here in Australia :)

 A local bush, came abundant with pink azaleas so I took the opportunity to do some mini shoots with my wooden stands which I'm sure I'll be flooding my instagram with at some point (#sorrynotsorry :P)

It also rained a lot which I'm sure the flowers loved!

Ben bought me a sunflower just before he left for work which turned out to be the shortest hitch ever (only two weeks) hooray!

So many pink azaleas!

This month, I planted the sunflower seeds that I got when I went to visit Ben's Nephew at the start of the year. They have already sprouted so I'm super excited to see them grow tall!

I picked up a Hatiora Rosea (aka Rose Easter Cactus) from Bunning the other day, I knew nothing about the plant but the little pink buds sold me straight away.  To my surprise those buds opened into flowers a few weeks later - a definite face palm moment but also a super excited face too!

Ben also bought me a sweet bouquet!

Nasturtiums were still thriving this month!

And an Amaryllis sprouted in the garden!
