Gardners Falls - Maleny

Whenever I've been to Gardeners falls its always hella busy and crowded with bogans (derogative word for a singlet wearing, beer drinking peep with excessive Aussie pride). Turns out though all you need to do is go in Winter and you'll have the place to yourself.

The only downside is the water is way too freezing to swim in :p It was delightful for my ankle though which coped a beating with all the walking it did on the weekend. Breaking your ankle is not fun, even five months down the track. I look forward to the day my ankle no longer swells up in disgust at me!

Chickens!

So I'm back up the coast, Ben is back, his house has chickens and I'm chillin' here for the next two weeks :) Lowie is making me herbal concoctions for my ankle and today I headed to a horse shop for some horse strength gel/clay cures, the lady at the shop was surprisingly non judgmental. Catz another one of Ben's room mate is advocating the physio so with all these powers combined hopefully I'm up to driving within a week and I can start work and stay up here :) That's the plan!

Ben took me car-park driving the other evening and I can drive but not how I should be, I'm still hobbling but still staying positive :) *fingers crossed*

It's nice to see chickens roaming around the garden again :)

A week after having my Cast off

So it only took a few nights before I stopped having pain in my foot which is nice and I can now move my ankle somewhat, although its still super stiff and swollen. I'm still walking like the slowest turtle around and am still weary about putting too much weight on it. It's a week in to having my cast removed and I feel like I've made progress. Another week and my moon boot comes off and I can put full weight onto my foot which to be honest is a scary prospect but it means I'll be real-ish walking not just moon boot walking :). I have acceptance now this is a slow process.

Scarborough

So I'm back where I begun. Just over a month ago (the day after, I moved back home) the family and I headed to Scarborough and now today (the day before my cast comes off) we decided on another trip back there. Although a much gloomier day, my outlook definitely isn't matching the weather. Did someone mention my cast is coming off *pops champagne* :)

So I'll admit I'm slightly scared for the recovery process after the cast comes off, my brain is thinking, well you just walk! But I'm trying to brace myself for reality and pain. I am looking forward to the following things though
- having a super long bath/shower
- being able to carry stuff
- taking photos again
- making myself a coffee, it's the little things!
I'm also dreaming of shell collecting, swimming in waterfalls, running through daisey filled paddocks, you get the drift :p
In more serious notes my to-do list looks a little like this
- learn to walk
- learn to drive
- get my old job back
- find a unit and move back to the coast
Not so fun and a tad overwhelming but baby steps, literally! I'm on the home straight.

Fibreglass Cast
