Harry's Hut

Apparently there are one two everglades in the World and we were lucky enough to camp on the banks of one them. The Noosa Everglades are super pretty and are known as the river of mirrors, due to their amazing water reflections. We actually camped here at the end of last year but Dec and Jan consumed all my fun edit time so hence the late (but worthy!) share.  Ben and I camped with my Dad and his friend and we went on walks, bought along kayaks and had a swim and just did relaxed camping things :) :)

Noosa and Mutton Birds

Today might be my final entry involving the mutton birds. I'm going to keep this post on the image side but if you want to, you can read about the birds here and here. 

For now it's time to flood you guys with pictures of Noosa national Park, a fav spot of mine that you're possibly, sick of me posting about :P I was definitely curious to go back to check in on the state of the bird bones and to my surprise a year+ later they're still decomposing. The park is not just about the bones though, we found cute banksia pods (like the guy below), cicada shells, a heart shaped rock (my favourite!) a beach ball made of twigs and some pretty cactus - which shocked me because it's not something I see much of in the wild!

Update on the Mutton Birds

A while back I blogged about the mystery of all the bird bodies who washed up on Australian and New Zealand beaches. I decided to go back to a spot which doesn't get much foot traffic and get an update. I was expecting to see, four months on, just bone remains but surprisingly it seems they're going through a slow process of decomposition. Sorry if this is morbid to some/most - just something that I find curious. 

I've also included some pretty nature shots to help make this post less weird :)

I kid you not this is how the water looks, that view always takes my breath away :)

Can you spot a little dude over on the left somewhere? I wasn't quick enough to whip out my long lens (although I tried!)
