Coconuts, Lowy and Shanti

Over January we had a lot of visitors and one them was Lowy and his dog Shanti. Last year when he came to stay, Gremlin was super fearful of Shanti, even though she's just one super happy pup. This year, Gremlin has really pushed through a lot of his fear and even though they weren't besties, they were totally cool just to hang around together (although Peaches and Shanti were another story!) Below are some photos I took of Lowy, who is all about those coconuts :)

The lighting was a little ridiculous (in a good way) which gave a sort of studio lights effect - pretty!

I personally feel that's screaming out to be his new profile shot :P

Horse friends

One of our neighbours has horses, actually we don't know if we have neighbours or just horses because we can't see a home. I think I might like horse neighbours better than people neighbours anyway :p

As far as we know the white guy is a dude who likes to lick way too much and the brown horse are ladies, (although possibly we made that up) oh and they like apples :)

I'm backkk!

I'm not usually one to say something for blog absences but this one was truly a mighty long gap between drinks, so I better explain myself. The main reason (which is honestly super boring) is that we moved and we didn't have internet set up. I was on a strict 100mb a day - which I found only let me read emails and a few of my fav blogs - I missed blogging! In the meanwhile I've been stock piling photos so even though they are a billion years old I'm still going to share them :p Be prepared!

Today's post is all the 'Goodbye King Street' photos! Our old house had been a hive for so many hobos and creative folk. I was one of the last residents so a lot of the coolness was lost on me but it was still a memorable year living there and sad to say goodbye. The last ever party was crazy I knew like two people and then I freaked out and ran and hid in my room. Turns out not a good hiding place as past king street renters wanted to get all nostalgic and check out the house, so I became part of the tour - actually I learned a lot about who had lived in my room and what shenanigans went on. It's hard to be an introvert sometimes :p 

We have now moved about half an hour away, further north and more rural, phone reception is horrid but we have a nice three acre block, tank water, kookaburras, wallabies, a very 80s above ground pool, a fire place and dirt roads that make for dirty cars :p I'll share more of my new place later on in the week - for now, it's goodbye king st photo time!

I hope this isn't just a fun reminisce for me but it may well be (again you've been warned!)

I went around the house at the end to document all the little things that I might want to remember such as this painted toilet :p You never know when I might want to remember that guys face!

On one of the many dump runs the boys came back with a piano, bit of a tradition to burn a piano at their parties which kind of makes me a bit sad - poor piano!

Goodbye front door!

The trash pile that kept growing bigger and bigger over the weeks.

The bananas have since ripened which then lowie ended up dehydrating.  Oh my gosh, I am a fan of bananas but I'm a huge fan of the dehydrated variety all the sweet flavor and none of the strange texture.  They also shrivel up so I'm pretty sure I ate 10 bananas in one day unknowingly - I then had to google if I was going to die (turns out I'm going to live it was just a lot of fibre :P)

And sooo much cleaning - Ben and Lowy did the most of it - super respect to those responsible boys. On a side note I really hate moving.

I found a new spot to go sea glass collecting, I'll do another post on the cute shells I came across too, it's a wicked new spot for treasures!

On a funny side note story, I got *love* attacked by a dog when I was sitting down on a rock resting my ankle. The owner was yelling "no don't jump on her". I looked up and all I could see was this super happy (and wet!) dog sprinting a million miles towards me. I couldn't stop laughing, Ben had to yell "push him off you" because he thought I was in danger but all I could do was laugh, I love dogs and the beach!

Echidna Adventures - Maroochy Botanical Gardens

We headed down to the Maroochy Bushland botanical gardens on the weekend and not to give the last photo away but....I saw an echidna in real life!!! We actually missed him when we first walked past but thanks to some kids coming up to us asking where the snake was (Daz was re-telling a previous snake encounter story) the kid's parents gave us the inside, echidna location, scope! To be the hero of the story, everyone thought the echidna would be long gone but I convinced them to go back and lucky for me the echidna was still there, hiding in some leaves. We waited a little while to see if the echidna would stick his head out but no such luck, they're shy guys :p Still, I can now tick echidna off my 'Australian animals to see in the wild' bucket list! Still need to see a Koala!

Presents

I have to share some amazing presents I've been given recently, well actually not so recently, but I can finally hold my camera and take proper pictures of them. You may see in the pink bag shot, two feet, I'm finally crutches free! I went to the physio on Tuesday and straight away she told me just to walk. Apparently my crutches and not putting 100% weight on my foot has been a bit of a mental thing.

I have to say, "walking" is still crazy slow, my foot is crazy stiff and every step I take I have to repeat to myself "walk normal" (my walking mantra) heck, it just doesn't feel like a pleasurable thing to walk. The physio actually told me my expectations of driving a week after my cast came off weren't completely unrealistic and apparently I'm just a slow healer. She said its also a little unusual to still have all the swelling I do have. Oh well, I'm on my way to recovery, these poor muscles and nerves have been working over drive! Enough rambling...present time!

Okay for those folks playing along at home, the bottom two artworks are from the lovely Phil, go check him out on Facebook. By the way did you notice the ladybug has her own cast!!! Next is that amazing pink bag from Emaya. She must be a mind reader because she bought the bag for me before I broke my ankle and it's been my broken ankle saviour. The one thing you really miss with a leg in a cast is the ability to carry things and since 99% of my other bags are across the shoulder style, a style that doesn't go to well with crutches, this backpack was perfect...perfectly cute :p. Finally, the very top photo is an amazing shell Lowie bought me back from cairns and next to it an amazing bamboo water bail he made. I love that he wrote "two gay dads" a hilarious sit-com we came up with one day in the car...'had to be there' style.

I'm lucky!
