West Woombye Home

I'm not sure I have every totally explained our crazy house rental situation but the last three years we were living in the top part of the house and for the last six months we moved in underneath to what we called the "mole hole".  I actually loved living down there, it definitely had no frills but the rent was super cheap and there was a lovely area to do wood working and the view looking outwards was super peaceful! Before we moved I went around with my tripod snapping a few photos for reminiscing sake and I figured they might be interesting to pop up here too!

So this is the view of the back of the house and the entrance for the underneath section of the house.

The space underneath didn't really have rooms rather divided spaces that we found a way to make do.  Our bedroom was literally also my office and wardrobe and storage space :P

crazy!

The kitchen although completely hobo town was actually really spacious and a lot of people that came to visit actually liked this space more than when we were living up the top which had a teeny tiny dining/kitchen area and not much space for guests to hang out!

We only had a small gas cooker and oven but I found everything was enough :)

Some interesting colour choices :P

I think you can spy my tripod reflection in the tv!

There was also a space behind where I'm standing that was Ben's space and then the bathroom but both spots got very little light and would have been super uninspiring to photograph!

I've already shown a few photos of the garden already on the blog but hopefully you get the idea of how the space was set up!

It was very peaceful to sit out here and watch the sun set and the horses play in the paddock

It also had this nice area where I could do my wood work and where we had the wheel set up for pottery

You can spy my passion fruit vine taking off in the above photo

I had to leave the vine behind, just as the passion fruit had started to grow, I'm crossing my fingers and toes that the new neighbours continue to water it and then reap its bounty!

I'm backkk!

I'm not usually one to say something for blog absences but this one was truly a mighty long gap between drinks, so I better explain myself. The main reason (which is honestly super boring) is that we moved and we didn't have internet set up. I was on a strict 100mb a day - which I found only let me read emails and a few of my fav blogs - I missed blogging! In the meanwhile I've been stock piling photos so even though they are a billion years old I'm still going to share them :p Be prepared!

Today's post is all the 'Goodbye King Street' photos! Our old house had been a hive for so many hobos and creative folk. I was one of the last residents so a lot of the coolness was lost on me but it was still a memorable year living there and sad to say goodbye. The last ever party was crazy I knew like two people and then I freaked out and ran and hid in my room. Turns out not a good hiding place as past king street renters wanted to get all nostalgic and check out the house, so I became part of the tour - actually I learned a lot about who had lived in my room and what shenanigans went on. It's hard to be an introvert sometimes :p

We have now moved about half an hour away, further north and more rural, phone reception is horrid but we have a nice three acre block, tank water, kookaburras, wallabies, a very 80s above ground pool, a fire place and dirt roads that make for dirty cars :p I'll share more of my new place later on in the week - for now, it's goodbye king st photo time!

I hope this isn't just a fun reminisce for me but it may well be (again you've been warned!)

Our front yard complete with a broken swing, a pecan nut tree and very scary jumping ants!

Spray paint and my room all packed up!

I made sure to get some photos of Ben's sticker window which all came down in the clean :(

Ben having fun with spray paint and an old mattresses for the party.

I went around the house at the end to document all the little things that I might want to remember such as this painted toilet :p You never know when I might want to remember that guys face!

The full sticker window in all it's glory.

On one of the many dump runs the boys came back with a piano, bit of a tradition to burn a piano at their parties which kind of makes me a bit sad - poor piano!

Goodbye front door!

The trash pile that kept growing bigger and bigger over the weeks.

The bananas have since ripened which then lowie ended up dehydrating.  Oh my gosh, I am a fan of bananas but I'm a huge fan of the dehydrated variety all the sweet flavor and none of the strange texture.  They also shrivel up so I'm pretty sure I ate 10 bananas in one day unknowingly - I then had to google if I was going to die (turns out I'm going to live it was just a lot of fibre :P)

And sooo much cleaning - Ben and Lowy did the most of it - super respect to those responsible boys. On a side note I really hate moving.

Goodbye room with your beautiful windows!

The end - I'm coming back tomorrow to share a Gremlin update :) I swear no more abandoning you guys!

Moving Out

So I've officially moved out of my unit and back in with the parents. My parents pretty did my move/clean for me, since I'm still 100% useless, so a huge thanks to them. As for my broken ankle, it's still in the cast but I did score a hospital visit today. All they could tell me was that they're still not sure if I'll need surgery. I'm getting discussed tomorrow at their trauma board meeting, sounds official and the doctor said she would ring me tomorrow with the news. So tomorrow I find out if my cast is coming off or whether I'm useless for many more weeks to come! Ben told me, my blog was getting slightly cast picture heavy, so my apologies, it's just that there isn't much to take photos of. Maybe I'll get a new coloured cast to take pictures of :p
