My Olympus OM-1 loaded with Portra 160 is a pretty fool proof combo! I started this roll of film at the airport coming home from Melbourne and kept snapping the everyday when I got home :)

1000f with portra 160 - The Ekka

So tragically no film camera a month for August, my Pentax 6x7 just wouldn't work for me *sad face* On an extra sad note, it seems tragedy is striking again this month - I'm currently up to my 14th failed polaroid - total blanks! I may have to abort and choose another film camera as a back up - ahhh the nature of film! 

Last month, my family invited me to the annual show exhibition, The Ekka, so I bought along my reliable 1000f canon camera loaded with some Portra 160. As per normal, I rated the ISO in camera at 100 and had it processed normally to make it a bit brighter and softer :) 

There were a few photos already on the film too :) Enjoy!

We were in the showbag pavilion and J asked if he could wander a few stalls up, next minute he comes back with this trump mask, extremely odd and that's why I love my little bro! Plus he always indulges me when I want to take his photo :)

I had no idea Great Danes could be spotty like Dalmatians!

It was a fun challenge to only use film in a photographic place, I also challenged myself to spend no money (apart from the entry fee and a little present for Ben) so all in all a win win!

Pulling Portra 160

I've got some Portra 160 film to show you guys. I popped the film into my canon 1000f film camera, set the film speed to 100 and then had it processed at 160. Just so I'm using correct terminology (from my research) this is called pulling film in shooting (unnecessary to do anything further in processing). I'm loving the pulling because it gives the film a bit less contrast and more details in shadows and generally more dreamy-esque :) I also overexpose my shots by one or two stops to make sure there are nice and bright :) :) Onto the photos! Oh and just as a side note, there are a couple of shots in black and white, I just edited those digitally because I liked them better in b&w.

Ben and I found a fake flower at the beach which has started the idea that I should do a series of these!

Film Photos of Japan

This post are my fav film shots I took in Japan, mind you I only took 3 rolls and 2 were already half used but I'm still happy I have a bunch of photos to share today with you guys. 

 You'll probably recognise a lot of these locations from my other Japan trip posts so I won't go over all the details but I will say, I used my canon 1000f film camera and three different film types. If you're curious about which film I used for what photo, you can individual click on any photo and it will take you to my Flickr page where I have the relevant tags. I tried a new technique this trip, where you rate a film (in camera) one or two stops under its rated speed and then have it processed at its normal speed. I think I will continue to do this because I found when scanning and editing the photos that they seemed to be lighter and softer, which is something I love about film. I also make sure I overexpose by two stops when I'm taking film too! 

Okay enough technical ranting, time for photos!

note: Those few black and white photos I digitally in lightroom oh and how great is that shot with Ben and those kimono dressed ladies!!!  I may of kind of stalked them for a photo and next thing you know Ben and I spent a good 15 minutes with the group taking there photos on everyone's cameras and phones.  I may even be in a few!
