Thrifty Sunday /26

Thrift stores were closed due to covid and before that life swung me upside down with hospital visits and the like, meaning op shop visits were few and far between. As the shops have now reopened here in QLD, I've begun my thrifting again which has been a delight (although a couple of health dramas recently threw a few more spanners into my weekly op-shop schedule).  Fingers crossed the next few months see my op shop adventuring back on track again :)

I have a folder on my desktop where I throw in all my thrifted finds. That folder has been slowly filling - I always love seeing what other people score, so today is sharing day!

thrift store frankie magazines
Frankie Mags! I've started a list in my phone of all the editions I have and any holes in my collection.  It's very helpful in not buying duplicates!

thrifted pink ipad cover
A pink ipad cover - score!

thrifted kikki k container
A cute container for my ear buds.

thrifted pink sunnies
Pink sunnies that I've managed to scratch already.
I'm terrible at putting them back into a holder.

white shirt book libby VanderPloeg
Do you know the artist Libby VanderPloeg? She illustrated this book and it's magical!

pink kikki k notebook
A cute notebook to write my poetry in :)

thrifted moon crescent brooch
A crescent moon brooch

gold spotted trinket holder
A couple of cute trinket trays.

My hair ties live in the gold spotted dish above and my earrings in the heart-shaped dish below :)

black and white snowflake pyrex dishLastly, a snowflake pyrex dish :)

I was half collecting pyrex but my minimalist journey won out and now I only have a small collection of bowls that actually get used :)

Are Thrift Stores open where you're living?
Have you had withdrawals?

Thrifty Sunday /17

I don't know about you but I'm always curious to see what people pick up whilst thrifting so I'm back with another thrifty Sunday!

An awesome piece of pyrex and it came with a lid, pretty and practicable - win win!

Some really cute vintage buttons, shells (with a pearl luster) and some lemons :)
Just need a project for them now!

A cute cat hair clip which you may of spied me wearing in this post

Blast from the past, a Boris Breakfast Club bowl (Aussie kids show on Channel 7!)

A new diary - this one could be applicable to any year and you are left to fill in the dates.
So far, I'm finding my terrible messy hand writing is severally ruining this diary- oops!

A cable release for my Asahi Pentax, although it works in other film cameras too. It's essentially a cable you screw into the shutter button and you can then take selfies! Ben and I used it for our selfie photo here! To be honest the packet says "long" but it's pretty darn short :p

An Australian zoo fridge magnet! I was listening to our local radio and they were talking about Aussie slang and someone bought up Crikey and explained that the word came from Christ - a work around from being religiously insensitive!

You can catch all my other Thrifty Sunday's here

Thrifty Sunday /14

Time to show you some of my recent op shopping finds :)
Two Expo 88 (Oz the platypus) fridge magnets, I rambled on about expo 88 in this old blog post, if you're keen to know more :)

Have you ever started a collection and then had the realisation that space might be a factor for this collection to continue? That's how I've been feeling about Pyrex (which I see quite a lot of it whilst thrifting) so I've been way selective and also wondering if I should just stop now - eep?!

This knitting book is half super amazing and half wildly inappropriate

White male in aboriginal themed sweater = what were they thinking???

The photography is amazing though, the country setting with all the models looking crazy sad! How great is that cardie with the Fosters design (type of aussie beer) on the far right!

I would love love to be able to knit these patterns, Vegemite and Ned Kelly and a koala cosey! Every thrift mission I browse the jumper rack in case I found an amazing home made knitted jumper #dreamfind

The parakeet and kanga are so good!!

I also picked up a bunch of yen mags for a dollar, I've got a big stash of Yen and Frankie now that I need to read ASAP!

These snowflake Pyrex dishes, were cute and small = win win!

A little plastic moth brooch I purchased in Biggenden for 2 dollars :) Moths have a special place in my heart and it's rare to see them in jewellery form!

Another name mug for my collection (also super hard to find!) and a divided casserole dish which I've been taking to BBQs recently and its been the perfect size

and lucky last, a swan holder probably for toothbrushes but I'm using it for pens on my desk :)

Such a rebel :P
