Square One Exhibition

Still working on combating this internet virus but thought I would pop in and show my art that was in the Square One exhibition the other week :) I'd been thinking a lot about things in hair, I still remember the time when I was staying at my Grandparents and my older brother, Andrew accidentally spat bubblegum in my long hair, resulting in a bubble gum ban from then on. I have to say pretty devastating news for a pair of kids. Ahem I'm rambling. The art was based around three emotions, anger, contentment and sadness.
See if you can pick them :P

Glitter, Kitten and boy!

I can finally show you the piece I had in the exhibition over the weekend!
weeeeee...

I follow a blog called Cute Boys with Cats and had saved this photo in my inspiration folder for a while.
This exhibition was a good excuse to finally sketch out the image onto paper :)

Thanks to Catherine and my peeps for coming along to the opening, I saw lots of cool art which makes me happy about the Brisbane art scene!

When I got my teapot, actually before it had even arrived, I was thinking of ideas.  It wasn't until we were at Ben's Mum's place while intently starring at her chicken teapot that I noticed it looked like a face and realised that would make for one hell of a cute teapot!

Around the same time, I was playing with some moth paintings and I decided to incorporate a bit of a moth theme, since I love moths!!

Creature Feature

The exhibition is up and running now (opening was last night) so I can post my three works I put in! Since the exhibition was titled 'Creature Feature', I took the kistch, strange, odd, cute route :)

The first artwork was inspired by the poster for the 1989 film "The Return of the Swamp thing"
I stuck them in some gold frames which I added glitter too, I'm sure my poor lungs weren't very happy that day, sucking in glitter, glue and sealant, I really should learn to ventilate more!

The next artwork was 'thing' who I drew because I love The Addams Family and it always stood out as being extra strange especially as a kid!

The last "scary kiddies" which I drew from a disturbing vintage photo of kids wearing strange Halloween masks, it appealed to me immensely!

So there you go, get down to 93 Bourke Street Wooloomooloo, Monstrosity Gallery if you live in Sydney, it runs till the 17th of Decemeber (gallery hours Wed-Sun 11-6pm)

If you don't live in Sydney, like myself, you can always check out the website linked below

Oh and one last thing I've popped the prints up on etsy (just click the picks to be magically transported!)
